Bronwyn Griffith pits herself against the elements, all for the sake of research. Desperate to gain the attention of her editor, nothing is going to stop her. Not the wicked weather, the slippery main sheet, or the man pulling himself up over the railing into the cockpit of her boat claiming he’s here to save her.
She doesn’t need to be saved and doesn’t want to be rescued.

About C.H. Admirand
Southern Born -- Northern Bred -- I was born in n Aiken, South Carolina, but alas, my parents moved back to northern New Jersey where I grew up, which if you’ve met me would explain a lot. I’ve always had my nose in a book, have traveled the world over, and even tested the time-space continuum, thanks to the awesome power of the written word.
My love for the written word is a gift from my parents, but the need to write was instilled by my 7th Grade English teacher. One of my writing quirks is that I love to include bits and pieces of my ancestors and ancestry in all of my books.
Fate, destiny and love at first sight will always play a large part in my stories because they played a major role in my life. When I saw my husband for the first time, I knew he was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I’ve loved him forever -- well -- more than half my life. Each an and every hero I write about has a few of Dave’s best qualities, his honesty, his integrity, his compassion for those in need and his killer broad shoulders. I’m such a sucker for a man with broad shoulders.

An Interview with C.H. Admirand
By Holly Hewson for The Romance StudioHH: C.H., thank you for talking with us at TRS. Please tell us about your featured story in the OPERATION: L.O.V.E. anthology, So Others Might Live. CH: The Anthology is five sweet contemporary romances about the Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, Army and Marines. I wanted to write about the Coast Guard. USCG Rescue Swimmer, James Purcell, jumps out of a helicopter into rough seas and deteriorating weather to rescue people whenever summoned. It is simply part of the job. But that was before his SAR Unit receives a distress call that a boat is in trouble, and he sees a valiant dark-haired beauty bleeding from a head wound, struggling to maintain control of her floundering sailboat.
Bronwyn Griffith pits herself against the elements, all for the sake of research. Desperate to gain the attention of her editor, nothing is going to stop her. Not the wicked weather, the slippery main sheet, or the man pulling himself up over the railing into the cockpit of her boat claiming he's here to save her.
She doesn't need to be saved and doesn't want to be rescued.
HH: How did you come to be part of this special collection of stories? CH: I had an amazing experience doing the research for SO OTHERS MIGHT LIVE. Author Anne Elizabeth asked if I'd be interested in doing a Special Ops short story, and I jumped at the chance.
HH: Where did you get the idea for your story? CH: I had an idea cooking in the back of my mind and wondered what would happen if the USCG came across someone who didn't want to be rescued. It wasn't until I actually interviewed a USCG Rescue Swimmer (actually called an AST (Aviation Survival Technician) that I found out the answer to that question.
HH: What sort of research did you do to bring it to life so convincingly? CH: I found the USCG Channel on MySpace and then ended up on the main website for the USCG. From there it was pure luck that I contacted the PR person for our District...Number 5. He was wonderful and had an AST get in touch with me. During the phone interview, AST1 Baligad mentioned the Atlantic City Air Station, and I told him it would be really great if I could visit it someday. He totally surprised me by asking when, because he could arrange it for me! I jumped at the chance and then had to explain to my boss why I wouldn't be at work the next day.
So, in November, I drove down to AC, and AST1 Baligad met me at the Security Operations Post. After I went through the security checkpoint (yes my bracelets set the machine off), he met me by the back door and drove me over to the Air Station
where I had the pleasure of asking ANY question I could think of. I had them written down ahead of time. I was treated to a tour of the Air Station and got to see the hangar and the HHC65C helicopters and rescue equipment. I spent most of the time in the AST Shop (the section of the Air Station where the Rescue Swimmers test, store, and repair their equipment). AST1 Baligad introduced me to two other Rescue Swimmers - AST Conklin and ASTC (Chief) Marinkov. The three of them were a writer's research dream come true. My hand cramped I was writing so fast! They were so friendly and after the first five minutes, I stopped apologizing for asking stupid questions. No question was stupid to them, and they answered each and every one of them.
HH: What can you tell us about the forthcoming print release of The Lord of Merewood Keep? CH: I'm really excited about the print release of THE LORD OF MEREWOOD KEEP. When I wrote the Medieval Trilogy for DCL Publications, I didn't expect it to ever go into print. The first book in my trilogy was one of three stories chosen to debut DCL's print line. The release date was just changed to May, but I don't have the exact date yet.
HH: What's your favorite type of story to write and why? CH: Romances are my favorites. I enjoy a variety of time periods and have only recently written a few contemporaries, which BTW, are harder for me to research and write than historicals. Apparently, I'm way behind technologically...but I'm catching up!
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers? CH: I have four more short stories that I'm currently writing for upcoming Highland Press Collections. I just turned in the Fourth Book in my Irish Western Series, A GIFT FROM HOME, cross your fingers that they like it, and I have a hot western that I'm waiting to hear good news about in the next few weeks. So I'm basically booked through the end of the year and then some. <g>
HH: What are you reading now? CH: I've been researching the CIA and have a couple of non-fiction titles that I've been pouring through. Unfortunately, I haven't found anyone to interview from the CIA yet. BUT I have Amanda Quick's latest, THE PERFECT POISON, waiting in my TBR pile.
HH: What goals have you set for yourself at this point in your career? CH: Actually my writing goals are ever-changing and flexible, but one that I've been working toward is to have a book published in mass market paperback format. I'm currently published in e-book, trade paperback, hardcover and magazine. A long term goal would be to quit my day and evening jobs and write full time. BUT, there are college loans to be paid and promo and advertising to fund, so for the next little while, I'm keeping my jobs.
HH: What would you consider a perfect day? CH: Hmmm...a perfect day would be one where I didn't have to go to the office and come home to a sink filled with dirty dishes. I could spend the entire day writing or catching up on my TBR pile.
Thanks for the wonderful job The Romance Studio does promoting it's authors.
HH: Thank you!
