Reviews for Winning Virgin Blood

5.5 Kisses: Recommended Read: "In Winning Virgin Blood, the first book of her new Winning Virgin series, author Destiny Blaine introduces us to the rowdy, willful and 'sexy as sin' Spencer clan. Although Orlando starts out more the love 'em and leave 'em type, fate has other plans for him. When he reluctantly returns to Las Vegas and meets the redheaded Natasha, he hits the jackpot when their chemistry is off the charts. I felt the sizzle just reading it! The lovely Natasha however, is no easily won prize. She requires some major convincing so the very determined Orlando pulls out all the stops when it comes to his personal brand of 'persuasion'. I think you'll find Winning Virgin Blood a very enjoyable and steamy read, with a highly likeable cast of characters. I personally cannot wait for the next installment of this series. Winning Virgin Blood is a 'must read' and one for the keeper pile." - Tina, Two Lips Reviews

5 Pixies: Recommended Read: "Winning Virgin Blood is spectacular! This is Destiny Blaine's first attempt at a paranormal novel, and I am completely astounded. Readers expect an author's first foray into a different genre to pose a few issues in the storyline. However, I couldn't find a single thing to detract from this amazing story! Filled with a wickedly dynamic storyline, very engaging characters, and a romance that will blow your mind, Winning Virgin Blood is at the top of my favorite paranormal list this year. I was totally swept away by this story and the complexity of this vampire family's lives. I genuinely feel like I've gotten to know everyone involved in this story, and I wasn't left with feelings of boredom or repetition anywhere. If you're looking for a phenomenal paranormal romance, look no further. Winning Virgin Blood is the book for you!" - Amanda Haffery, Dark Angel Reviews

5 Hearts: "Winning Virgin Blood by Destiny Blaine is hopefully the first in a series of vampire brothers on the search for virgin brides. Ms. Blaine's compelling, erotic novel is a masterpiece. It was hot, sexy, and sinfully exotic. Hooked from the first words, Ms. Blaine truly delivers an amazing tale of feisty red hot love!" - Crystal Adkins, Book Reviews by Crystal

4.5 Blue Ribbons: "Winning Virgin Blood is a book that pulls you in and totally keeps you hooked. Orlando is a sensual and powerful character that will curl your toes and keep you turning the pages. Natasha is his perfect counterpart and together they are dynamite. The love scenes are very intense and emotional investment of the characters will have you up late into the night to finish the story. Once you start this book you won't be able to put it down. This is the first book in the Winning Virgin series and it proves to be a wonderful start. I can hardly wait to see what the next book in the series will bring. Destiny Blaine has done an excellent job of creating a tale that readers won't soon forget." - Angel, Romance Junkies

An Interview with Destiny Blaine
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Destiny, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Please tell us about your featured book, Winning Virgin Blood.

DB: Thank you for allowing me to tell you more about my featured book!

Winning Virgin Blood is the first book in the Winning Virgin series and it's also my first novel-length paranormal so I'm thrilled the book earned phenomenal reviews and recommended reads.

The series revolves around the Spenser clan and while the first book introduces readers to Almonzo and Constance, their stories will unfold later. In fact, both of their tales will be told and will appear on Siren's list later this year in Winning Virgin Love and Winning Virgin Lust.

Winning Virgin Blood tells the story of a young vampire male who dents the steel on his family vault when he spends too much of his clan's money in the casinos of Las Vegas. He's ordered to return to the city he cherishes and find a winning virgin to take as his life mate. He's not excited and anything but intrigued by possibilities until he takes up temporary residence in one of the clan homes.

After moving into his temporary home in the desert, he is driven to find his life partner and once he finds her, he's convinced moving her there will be the only way to show her why they are destined to be together. She's not so sure. She puts up a fight once she has a full understanding of what he needs and wants from her.

HH: Your heroine is in a terrible position and it doesn't look to be getting better. Where did you get the idea for this fascinating paranormal tale?

DB: I wanted to try my hand at paranormal and since I like a strong alpha male who can match wits with a head-strong counterpart, Natasha's character came alive for me. Orlando was more difficult because since the beginning of this series, I've been particularly partial to his brother! I had to make sure each twin had his own different personality traits which made it more difficult since I fell head over heels for his brother, Almonzo!

HH: What sort of research went into this tale?

DB: I'm not sure there was a lot of research involved for Winning Virgin Blood. My background includes writing about (and playing) many of the games found at the casinos so I didn't need to research any of the gaming elements.

HH:What do you like best about Orlando?

DB: His brother-Almonzo! Actually, I like Orlando's cool confidence and the way he can dismiss Natasha in a way that only draws her closer to him.

HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?

DB: I always enjoy incorporating the casino gambling elements into my stories because I'm in a very unique position. I've been involved in casino gambling, in one form or another, my entire adult life (and my father's love of gambling and sports opened my eyes to the world early). It's neat when a writer can use life experiences to write their stories and that element alone made Winning Virgin Blood a true pleasure to write. This series is writing-made-easy and that's been a great gift because I think, the series keeps getting better and better. By Book 3, those readers who appreciate a good ménage scene will be shocked at what they read about the youngest Spenser and I think they'll be pleasantly surprised when they watch the Spenser sister grow into a very complicated woman.

HH: What are you working on now?

DB: Oh my goodness. I hoped you wouldn't ask! (Smiles) I am working on sequels-slowly-for several of my ongoing novella series. However, I have a manuscript that literally has me by the throat (which is a good thing because my husband thinks it's my best one to date). The entire story is literally in my head and I just can't type it out fast enough. I write from sunrise until the early morning hours right now and have a legal pad (actually two!) beside my computer crammed full of even more scenes, outlines, and snappy dialogue. I should be working on my sequels but this story is writing itself and I can't move away from it. I won't tell-all yet but I'm really excited because the full manuscript has been requested by a well known literary agent so we'll see what happens. I hope something wonderful!

Additionally, I'm still working on the Winning Virgin series as well as the Blending Bloodline titles, one more Branded novella and another Unspoken story! Oh and I have a completely different novel (from what I typically write) for my publisher at Siren, and of course-edits!

HH: How did you get your start as a writer?

DB: I started out as a ghost writer and quickly became more of a freelancer using some of the writer's resource connections online. I wrote (under my real name) several articles for Gambling Online Magazine in December of 2006 and soon after, the now defunct Money and More bought a business article from me. Around the same time, one of the books I wrote for a client, shot straight up on Amazon and that's really when I decided to write less and less as a ghost writer. I don't mind sharing credit but I don't want someone else to earn my profits!

HH: How have things changed for you since then?

DB: I'm stepping out beyond writing as a work-for-hire because I don't have the time to do both. I write fast-but it's too difficult to juggle my own stories and write for someone else too. While I'm thankful I had the opportunity, it's not something I wanted to do ongoing. However, it did provide an education and in many aspects, I learned so much by being a ghost writer. I was able to research things I never would've thought about and because of the experience; I've been able to come up with some great future ideas. I have a filing cabinet crammed full of notes!

HH: What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

DB: Ahem...are you serious? =) Let's see-red velvet cake is right up there along with peanut butter and chocolate shakes but if you're looking for something a more risqué-read my books and let your imagination run wild!

HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?

DB: I really love MySpace and have two sites I maintain-one for my erotic work and one for my non-fiction and young adult books. Winning Virgin Blood was the inspiration behind Just Another Paranormal Monday. I started the group right before the debut of this series and it's grown into a phenomenal place for readers and writers to come together for a few hours each week. Now, the group has five co-owners/moderators and a house packed full of talent each and every Monday! We're like a big happy family and we have a blast-you should join us! Also, I've discovered your forum here at TRS and will be adding excerpts and hanging out with you more and more!
