| “He isn’t as cold as he pretends to be.” Heath released Valerie’s arm as they entered the bedroom. He turned and grabbed her wrists, unlocking the cuffs in seconds. He tossed them on the bed, but didn’t release her, and instead stroked the skin at her wrists.
Since he’d been away on business, Heath had been unable to attend Stone’s wedding, so other than pictures, tonight was the first time he’d seen her. And up close, Heath could see why Stone had fallen in love with her. She was lovely, and there was a fire in her eyes that he found himself wanting to explore. A weekend ménage was an affair he was definitely looking forward to. But the primary objective was to get Stone back together with Valerie. And that’s why Heath had ultimately agreed to this weekend. Stone’s crazy plan had been a good way to get Valerie and his stubborn cousin talking. Any fool could see they belonged together, and he didn’t for one minute think that she’d ever cheated on Stone. The love she had for him radiated from her, and Heath could see it in her eyes, even in the way she touched Stone, that she still felt for him deeply. Stone had relayed Valerie’s side of the story to Heath. The only way Valerie could not have remembered being with Dexter, or how she’d ended up in his arms, was if Dexter had drugged her somehow. But Stone would never consider that Valerie had been telling the truth, because he had seen Dexter and Valerie with his own eyes. And evidence such as that would be hard to disprove, especially since Dexter was dead. There was absolutely no way Heath could physically prove that Dexter had planned this down to the tee. Heath and Seth had tried to reason with Stone, but he wouldn’t hear any of it. His mind had already labeled Valerie as a cheat, and his heart was crushed by it. Heath could only hope that this weekend would help heal their old wounds, before Stone and his destined-to-fail plan damaged them for good. Valerie pulled her hands from Heath’s grasp. “I promised myself I wouldn’t let him affect me anymore, but even now his words hurt me. Maybe I can reason with you. Let me go, Heath. This weekend can only lead to more pain.” He shook his head. “If I release you from here, Stone would kill me. And after he’s done with me, it still wouldn’t stop him from coming after you again.” She arched a brow. “So I’m just supposed to sit here and let him have his way with me?” He didn’t see her as the sitting down and staying quiet type. “I would hope not. This weekend wouldn’t be any fun if you weren’t participating with us.” Valerie walked to the window, and pulled back the curtain. “Not participating is exactly what I had in mind. But I’ll be honest, it’s extremely hard when Stone corners me. The stubborn man has a way of setting me on fire. I’ve never had a reaction to anyone else like that in my life. Is this your home?” Heath noticed how she changed the subject rather quickly. But he wasn’t going to be deterred. “This is Stone’s vacation property. He bought it six months ago and hired an interior designer to furnish it for him.” “It’s very nice.” “It is indeed. There is a question I have to ask.” Valerie turned to him, crossing her arms under her breasts. “Go ahead.” Heath doubted that she knew just how tempting she looked to him. “Stone has stated his wants for this weekend. Are you agreeing to a threesome?”
