About Leila Brown

Leila has been an avid reader since the fifth grade. As she got older she read everything she could get her hands on from horror, to mystery and finally stopping in romance.

While in college studying computer programming and electrical engineering, she realized what she wanted to do when she grew up. She wanted to write those stories that entertained her through more nights than she could remember. Of course her first attempts were less than remarkable and have been destroyed to protect the innocent. :)

Currently, she works a normal 9 to 5 in the IT world. She writes during her lunch hour and at home after 9pm when everyone in her house is asleep.

Is it easy?...Yes and No. Coming up with the stories is easy. Getting the words out of her head and onto paper is HARD! But she couldn't live without it!

An Interview with Leila Brown
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Leila, thank you for talking with us at TRS BLUE. Please tell us about your featured story, A Chance Encounter.

LB: A Chance Encounter is the story of what happens when fate blindsides you with what your heart most desires and needs, even if you're too stubborn to see it. This story showcases how normally insignificant moment can change our lives. For Heather one delivery, one touch throws her normally ordered life into tailspin. For Julian and Lucian that one touch means finding a treasure neither of them dreamed would be theirs.

HH: Your story involves a woman who helps couples become trios - which is refreshing and new. <g> Where did you get this great idea?

LB: A just thought about who would be most likely open to the idea of sex with two men. My answer was someone who deals with it everyday. The next question was well who would deal with people like that. The only thing that made since (besides prostitution) was a therapist.

HH: How did the Grey brothers come into the picture as you were visualizing this story?

LB: I needed strong men who would be offended to be called Faeries. They are Fae. They are both alpha and have their own possessive and heart stealing personalities. You would never mistake one brother for the other yet once you get to know them you wouldn't be able to resist either.

HH: What challenges are posed when writing of relationships with more than two people?

LB: Oh the big challenge was to make both men alpha while not having them butting heads. I tried not to make one have a stronger personality than the other but wanted them to be distinct. And lets not even mention the sex scenes. Trying to describe what was going on for each brother during these scenes was murder with a capital M. LOL.

HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?

LB: The brothers. Lucian and Julian stole my heart. They both are big teddy bears but have a protective shield surrounding their hearts. Julian's sense of humor was twisted like mine and Lucian's possessive streak while teeth grinding irritating showcased his love. My favorite scene to write was the scene where the brothers woke up in her bed in her pajamas. Totally fun.

HH: What did you like best about Heather and what sort of research was required to realize her character?

LB: Reading about how some therapy is conducted. It was hard not to include a lot of technical stuff about that in the story. I tried not to. I wanted the reader to be confident that she knew what she was doing without bogging the story down. I also had to read about twins and how they share, how they interact, and the most dominant types of twin relationships for men. Not light reading let me tell you.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

LB: I have a new book coming out in July with Changeling Press called Fire and Isis. It tells the story of a woman who hits sub-freezing temperatures when she gets all fired up and man who has enough fire of his own to melt her icy demeanor. It's a quick read and will release on July 17th. I am also releasing the third and fourth books in the Super Sex series over at Changeling this summer. Make sure and be on the look out for Mastering Mirage in September and Making Mischief in October.

At Cobblestone Press I will have a new story hit the digital shelves on Aug 1st. Sacrifice is the story of a vampire seeking redemption and being presented with the ultimate choice of regaining his soul or saving the woman he loves. I will also have a story come out during November that is a bit different from anything I've written before. Stealing the Show will be released as part of the Wicked line at Cobblestone Press. If you like The Thomas Crowne Affair you should love this story of crime and punishment.

HH: What do you enjoy reading yourself?

LB: I love it when I can find the time to do it. Lately I have enjoyed the new offerings of Gena Showalter and Julia Quinn. Historical and Paranormal are two of my favorite genres.

HH: How much time do you spend on your writing career between writing, promotion, appearances, etc?

LB: I find that right before and right after a book is released my days are eaten up with promo and I must fight myself to find time for the writing. It is a struggle because people won't buy the book unless they know it's there, but once they finish it they want another one. I am still trying to find a happy medium between writing and promotion.

HH: What would you like to tell readers out there?

LB: I'd like to tell the readers out there that when you pick up a Leila Brown book I strive to give you a sexy fast paced read that will have you believing in happily ever after no matter how impossible it seems.

HH: Thank you!
