An Interview with Deanna Lee
Publisher & editor-in-chief of Cobblestone Press
By Katie Raines for The Romance Studio
KR: Thank you so much for joining us at TRS. Cobblestone Press has fast
become a reader favorite among publishers. What can you tell us about how
you got your start?
DL: Sable and I founded CP in January of 2006 and we opened our doors for
sales in June of 2006 -- our goal has always been to provide a safe,
friendly, and consistent publication environment for authors while offering
quality romance to readers.
KR: What types of books does Cobblestone Press have to offer readers?
DL: We offer romance and short story erotica in all genres -- shifter, BDSM,
paranormal, science fiction, contemporary, historical, etc.
KR: Where can they be found?
DL: Our website is : http://www.cobblestone-press.com.
KR: Are you open to submissions? What are you actively seeking?
DL: Yes- our submissions are always open and we have two special calls out
right now for paranormal works and for Christmas stories.
KR: Can you tell us what genre(s) you are looking for and can you give us
your guidelines for all book lengths?
DL: We're always very interested in shifter, ménage, and BDSM stories. Our
romance lengths are 10,000 to 100,000 and we take short story erotica in all
genres with a word count of 5,000 to 10,000.
KR: Can you tell us what a typical day is like for you at Cobblestone Press?
DL: Thankfully, we're blessed in that we have no typical day. Granted there
are activities and duties that happen every day-- website maintenance,
submissions, editorial tasks, and our forum -- but when you are surrounded
by truly talented and gifted people like Sable and I are there is always a
surprise.
KR: What can you tell us about the Vampire Oracle series?
DL: The Vampire Oracle series is Cobblestone's first multi-author series.
Each of the twenty-five books explores the theme of a vampire's life from
birth to rebirth and everything in between. We wanted to create a tarot card
series-- but we wanted something unique and different. The Vampire Oracle
was the result. We hope to do sets in the future with different themes.
KR: What other exciting things do you have planned for the upcoming year?
DL: In October we'll be celebrating our third annual Octoberfest with
paranormal stories all month long, in November we'll be celebrating our
first "Naughty November" -- all the of the books released that month will be
BDSM, Ménage, or something equally naughty, and in December we'll end the
year with our second annual 12 Days of Christmas.
KR: Do you hold any special events for your readers? Special promotions?
DL: We have weekly chats were our readers are very welcome to join us for
chat, free books and in January every year we have a readers and writers
conference called "Words in Motion" so please check out our site for the WIM
Conference for 2009 and of course we have a free quarterly readers magazine
called "The Cobblestone Quarterly"-- which can be found here:
http://www.cobblestone-press.com/catalog/cpq.htm
KR: Do you have a newsletter or group where readers can find out all the
latest on Cobblestone Press?
DL: Our newsletter is here: http://www.cobblestone-press.com/newsletter.htm -- you can join the group for notifications and download past newsletters in
PDF format.
KR: What else would you like to tell the readers out there about Cobblestone
Press?
DL: Our community forum is fast becoming the center of all things Cobblestone
and readers are very welcome to join us on Main Street -- to check out the
forum and of course our author blog: http://www.cobblestone-mainstreet.com
KR: Thank you so much for the interview!
