An Interview with Cheryl Dragon

HH: Cheryl, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Please tell us about your featured work, Hypnotic Hannah.CD: Thanks for having me! Hypnotic Hannah is about a woman who has psychic gifts and yet doesn't truly know her own needs. She thinks she's helping her friends lower their inhibitions but has a big revelation herself.
HH: Your psychic heroine is the catalyst for this sexy, uninhibited tale. Please tell us where the idea for this story came from. CD: Our friends are the people who know us best, and the ones whose judgment we most fear. I thought about hypnosis and how it can remove those fears and inhibitions to reveal the true self. Sometimes that fear is all that stands between friends becoming lovers.
HH: Not a strict romance, what was your intent with this provocative story? CD: Loose Id actually asked me to write a non-traditional romance for them. Experimenting with the genre. There is plenty of romance with the secondary characters, the heroine is a bit earlier than the rest in her quest for love. She finds some buttons and kinks she never knew she liked and it will lead her to romance in the future. Every relationship and experience is a step on the way to Mr. Right. She's one step closer and who knows, in a sequel we may get to see the final installment.
HH: What challenges lie in writing sensual scenes with multiple players? CD: The biggest challenge was making sure everyone was accounted for and included despite it being first person point of view. Through Hannah's eyes, I was able to control the scene but wanted everyone to feel included:)
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this tale? CD: I enjoyed the fact that Hannah could dip into their minds as a psychic and give them the fantasies they didn't want to admit. And then turning the tables with a Dom man giving Hannah a experience she never expected to want.
HH: What challenges did you face? CD: Giving everyone time to develop their loves and lusts. Balancing all the characters so they had time and yet didn't take over was a bit tricky.
HH: What else do you have coming up for lucky readers? CD: Outsmarting the Moon (erotic romance werewolf) released from Ellora's Cave on July 23rd. Service Call (Sci Fi BDSM erotic romance) is coming from Loose Id on September 9th. Curse of the Mexican Opal (paranormal erotic romance) is coming from Ellora's Cave on Oct 1st.
HH: What are you looking forward to in the remainder of 2008? CD: Best In Bed (sensual romance contemporary) is coming from Pink Petal Books on Oct 3rd. Arresting Abby (menage/role playing erotic romance) is coming from Loose Id on Oct 28th. Quintupled (paranormal erotica) is coming from Ellora's Cave on December 3rd.
HH: What are important goals for you at this point? CD: I think keeping my name out there and trying different genres are important. I love a writing challenge and it helps to try new things.
