An Interview with Cheryl Dragon

HH: Cheryl, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Doubling on Denise. What can you tell us about this sizzling story?CD: Denise is trying to get her life on track after a disaster of a boyfriend. But that evil ex gets out of prison and wants revenge on her. While Denise wants to be strong and stand up for herself, she knows she needs help. Raiders Bodyguards protected her the first time around, before she fired the sexy duo for finding our her submissive secrets. She fell for them but panicked. Now she needs them again but can she keep her hands off them? She needs to get a grip on her life, not two Masters... but she can dream about it. The men have plans of their own and she'll be pleasing them for a long time to come.
HH: What do you like best about Denise and why will readers identify with her? CD: Denise has made mistakes and wants to fix them herself. We've all dated the wrong person or trusted someone we shouldn't. Plus her submissive lifestyle is very personal, she wants to keep that secret. So when the ex becomes a big problem, that might get outed as well. I think readers will sympathize with her... cheering her at times and at others telling her to trust the Raiders men and not try to handle it herself. But we're never done making mistakes!
HH: What can you tell us about her protectors and why will readers love them? CD: This duo is a pair of brothers who had a rough childhood. The foster care system was hard enough, but being separated made them very resentful. They've worked hard at being their own men and make a great team. Control and power in their lives is something they need but they find the best balance working together. The right sub has been missing from their lives but they won't let anyone else be taken from them now. They'll give the readers chills and dirty ideas.
HH: This is part of your Raider's Bodyguard series. Where did the idea for the series come from? CD: The idea came from Denise's cousin who is the heroine of the first book. She's another rich independent minded girl with overprotective family. When Denise's ex went crazy (the first time) Andrea was put on lock down by Raider's as well. Taken to a safe house by the one man she can't be alone with...Andrea has to give in to her desires or go crazy.
HH: What can you tell us about the first three books in the series? CD: The first book was Abducting Andrea.
Book two was Pushing Penny. A BBW and Andrea's best friend, Penny is facing the Milan fashion scene with a Raider by her side. He's hot and fun but he's got dark ideas that shock Penny. The Dom takes charge and Penny learns to see herself as a sexy creature in or out of high fashion...
Book three was Backing Brian. Men's bodies need protecting too and Penny's brother Brian is no exception. He get another hot Texas native whose gay and needs roping and riding. But the bodyguard isn't sure he can handle Texas living again. Brian has to be good and prove he's worth the relocation and their love will go the distance.
HH: How did you go about creating the world in which this series takes place? CD: These are all contemporary. Setting them in the world of the rich and putting the parents at fault for hiring the bodyguards takes some of the stigma out of being protected. There are reasons in each book to have someone looking out for them. But the settings do change. From the northeast in Andrea to Milan for Penny. Then Texas for Brian and out to Los Angeles for Denise.
HH: What do you have coming up for lucky readers?
CD: Red Hot Party comes out August 24th. This is book 3 of the Lucky Springs series and a sizzling hot time. Mix true love and family know-it-alls with firefighters in a small town with a sex party or two... it's menage plus with all the love three men can give one good woman and each other.
Then in September I'm kicking off a new series so hot it's still top secret... check out book 1 of The 7th Kind mid-September.
HH: How much of your day is devoted to your writing career?
CD: Weekdays?? 2-3 hours. Weekends can be from 5-10 hours a day. I really need to get rid of my evil day job:)
HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers? CD: I'm on Twitter @cheryldragon or on facebook... usually daily. That's the easiest way to interact with me... I love to hear thoughts on series or stories.
HH: Do you have any special events or appearances planned for the rest of the year? CD: The rest of this year?? Nope, I'm done with conferences. I will be at RT in 2012... sweet home Chicago!! So find me online for now....
