Reviews for Fallon's Jewel

"Kenji and Fallon meet and immediately connect in the bright, sensual manner I associate with this author. I find her books very healing to read when I'm tired or having a rough day. Tender and hot lovemaking, a protective guardian in Fallon, make this an enjoyable SF romance." -- Jan Irving, Author, The Boxer (available at Loose Id)

An Interview with Sedonia Guillone
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Sedonia, thank you for talking with us at TRS BLUE! Please tell us about your featured book, Fallon's Jewel.

SG: Thanks for having me here, Holly. Fallon's Jewel was inspired by the most recent version of Star Trek. I didn't realize this at the time I wrote it, but much later. I love those characters, how brave and loyal they are and just wanted to write characters like that. I'd had a story idea marinating in my imagination and the two forces came together to produce Kenji and Fallon.

HH: Kenji is a man in with a past he doesn't remember. Fallon could be his savior. Where did you get the idea for this remarkable story?

SG: Truthfully, I'm not completely sure, aside from the Star Trek inspiration. Except that I'd had a short story idea about a rough neck and a pretty boy in mind to write. Most of my story ideas however, undergo some sort of transformation based on my personality. This one was no different and the creative process in my mind yielded the story of love at first sight between Kenji, a bartender with amnesia and Fallon, the bereaved cop who comes in one night looking for some companionship. Add in the mystery of Kenji's true identity - a search which begins when a dangerous bounty hunter goes after Kenji one night on his way to meet Fallon. Circumstances are such that Fallon is the only person Kenji can really turn to for protection. Once Fallon rescues Kenji, the search for the truth begins and leads them across the galaxy, away from the bounty hunter, yet into the hands of a much worse enemy...

HH: What do you like best about Kenji and how do you relate to him?

SG: I like everything about Kenji, really. He's spiritual and brave, loyal and loving. I guess you could say that I relate to him insofar as he is a spiritual guide to people in need and I have that same kind of guide in my life. I imbued Kenji's characters with the quality of this man that I love so much.

HH: What can you tell us about Ai-Press?

SG: Ai Press is the erotic romance publisher that I founded back in March 2010. "Ai" is the Japanese word for love and the name that I feel expresses exactly what erotic romance is all about. I currently have four titles published there and have a lineup of others, including something by a very hot m/m author. I can't reveal the details just yet but I certianly will when the time comes. I'm really excited about having this author write for Ai Press and feel privileged that he will publish with me. Basically, Ai Press is an erotic romance press such as readers have come to enjoy. I write the same kind of hot story that I do for the other publishers of my books and offer titles in both digital formats and print. And I have the most amazing cover artist, Les Byerley, whose work graces many covers for distinguished pubs such Ellora's Cave. He is a jewel and I am so thrilled that he does my covers. Please come check it out: www.ai-press.net

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

SG: I have two M/F/M menages in the works - She Belongs to Them All and Delicious Love Triangle. excerpts are available on my author website at the moment: www.sedoniaguillone.com I hope to finish writing them in the near future but running a publishing company definitely takes away from writing time as I need to attend to all the details I didn't have to when I just wrote. However, I hope to provide a lineup of other high-quality erotic romance authors as time passes and hope readers will bookmark the site or subscribe to it in order to stay informed.

HH: What do you think today's readers are looking for and how do you fill that demand in your writing?

SG: I think today's readers are looking for very much the same thing as they always were in terms of story: interesting plot, loveable characters, delicious sensuality and hot heroes. I fill that demand in my writing by trying to put myself in the reader's place, in her mind and heart. What is it that will take her away on a journey of fantasy? What kind of emotional elements in the romance will make her toes curl and her heart flutter? That's what I write to in my romances. Truthfully, I too, am that reader, so when I write something I'd love to read, others enjoy it too.

HH: What are you most proud of in your writing career?

SG: I'm proud of the fact that I've been able to sit down and write all these books! I had some troubled younger years and never had the discipline or confidence to realize my dream of writing and getting published. I'm grateful to the man in my life for having helped me develop my abilities and so I've stuck to it until the books were done and were good enough to get published. I'm also proud of my White Tigers series most of all. I dug deeper inside myself than I did with any of the other books I've written and ended up with a fictional world of characters that I myself, have to re-read from time to time because they are so real and alive to me and bring me such comfort.

HH: What makes it all worth it to you as an author?

SG: The one thing that makes it all worth it: readers. I appreciate each and every person who takes the time to read a book I've written. There are so many books to choose from nowadays and time is finite. So when a person spends their precious time reading a book of mine, I am just over the moon. I recently received a letter from a reader who told me how my books got her through a really hard time in her life and inspired her to recover and get her life back. That was unexpected and if I never wrote another book, I feel I've accomplished my aim: to have touched another person's life and heart through my writing.

HH: Do you read print books, ebooks, or both?

SG: I read e-books sometimes but since I spend so much time on the computer editing, when it comes to pleasure reading, I really need to hold an actual book in my hands. I am so glad however, that both formats exist. E-books have opened a whole new world of reading to everyone. E-publishing is the venue in which I first got published and I will be forever grateful.

HH: Any big plans for the summer?

SG: Not really. Now that I'm running a business that's in its beginning stages, I really need to just sit down and work it. I'll be here, at my computer, preparing books for the reading public. =)

HH: Thank you!
