Anne Kane

When Catherine's aunt dies in a suspicious accident, she comes back to her hometown to settle the estate. She expects it to be an easy job, but she doesn't count on being chased by a pack of wild wolves, and an unknown enemy who sprays graffiti on the house and throws bricks through her windows. When the local police force is less than helpful it is up to Cat to find out what's going on with the help of her all too human lover, Jacob.

Known as the Mad Trapper, Jacob has been in love with Cat since high school. Now that she's back in town he intends to show her that a human-shifter relationship can be just what a were-cat needs to keep her out of trouble.

About Anne Kane

Anne is a gorgeous supermodel who writes romance in her spare time while jetting around Europe with a string of boy-toys in tow.

Hmmm... no one is going to believe that. How about this?

Anne is an undercover agent for a super secret government agency and when not saving the world for democracy and all the good people, she writes romance one-handed on a special mini computer designed by a mad scientist just for her.

Yeah, that sounds way better. So, ignore the people who tell you she's just an ordinary person with an extraordinary imagination. They're just jealous because she gets to play with James Bond and vacation in exotic locations.

Honestly!

When she's not busy saving the world or writing the next great novel, she likes to kayak, hike, ride motorcycles, swim, skate, practice karate, play her guitar, sing and of course, read.

An Interview with Anne Kane
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Anne, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Cat Came Back. Where did you get the idea for this sizzling tale?

AK: I have two cats of my own, both from the local rescue and it got me to thinking about the fact that they go outside and yet they never get lost. Cats always come back to where they are loved. So, in my story the cat-shifter came back to the town and the man who’d always loved her. Of course, it took them a bit of time to work out the kinks but in the end, true love won out.

HH: What do you like best about Cat and why will readers empathize with her?

AK: Cat is a feisty woman who is used to going after what she wants  and getting it. She doesn’t shrink away from danger, be it from graffiti spraying kids or from the trapper who is trying to steal her heart. And yet, she’s got a vulnerable side that makes us want everything to turn out right for her.

HH: What do you like best about Jacob and why will readers love him?

AK: Jacob has been in love with Cat since high school, and is willing to do whatever it takes to make her happy. He looks after her the best he can, and he helps her to come to terms with her past so that they can get on with their future together. Don’t we all secretly want a man who’d that focused on making us happy?

HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story and what do you think readers will take away from it?

AK: I enjoyed writing the love scenes between Cat and Jacob, and showing how much they meant to each others. I think readers will take away that sense of how much the two of them care about each other and are meant to be together.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

AK: I am currently working on a new series -- Mercenaries. It’s a futuristic series, and as the name suggests it is about a band of mercenaries who work together for the good of mankind. Of course, even a mercenary needs someone to love and this series follows each of the team as they meet and try to win over their mates.

HH: How does 2013 promise to be different from 2012 for you?

AK: I hope to get into writing some longer stories. I currently have one that I am working on the final draft of before I start sending out to publishers. Wish me luck!

HH: Where do you find inspiration for your stories?

AK: Everywhere! And anywhere. As we at Changeling Press are fond of saying, plot bunnies come in all shapes and sizes and multiply faster than rabbits! The trick is  not so much where to find one as how to keep them from overwhelming us!

HH: What's your writing schedule like?

AK: I try to get in an at least an hour a day. I do have a full-time job so that takes up a lot of time, but if I don’t make a conscious effort to do something writing related every day, my muse can get annoyed with me and that’s just not fun!

HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?

AK: I like to do online chats, either on the yahoo loops or in live chat rooms. The new release parties at TRS are a lot of fun too. Because I live on the West Coast, the time zones can be challenging so release parties let me participate without the time pressure.

HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2013?

AK: Getting into more markets, and gaining a wider readership. That’s what’s on my New Year’s wish list and I hope to follow through on it. Marketing is a huge part of writing, a part I never considered when I decided to try to get published. I learn something new all the time.

HH: Thank you!
