Reviews for Never Tempt Fate
Althena gave Never Tempt Fate 5 stars... "One of my favorites! The story of Christine & Antonio is so heartfelt & gripping with never a dull moment! Finished it in one seating & its 4.30am now! Wish I can find a man like Antonio..."
Lila gave Never Tempt Fate 5 lips... "The fact that Christine thinks Antonio to be gay and he thinks the same of her just provides hilarity throughout. When they finally discover the truth about each other, watch out, because Fran Lee's love scenes leave you drooling and wanting more."

About Fran Lee I first started writing as a teen, and got a great deal of training in what NOT to write. LOL. Thankfully most of those angst-filled romances will never see the light of day. But when I began to write in earnest in the mid eighties, the rejects all came back saying one specific thing..."TOO HOT for our firm" Sigh. So I waited a few more years, found a new publisher, and sent in that same book. The rejection came back..."Not hot enough!" Times certainly do change. I revised the book, tweaked it a bit, and sent it back. That was the start of a beautiful relationship between Ellora's Cave and Fran Lee. I now have sixteen books with Ellora's Cave, and I am working on more.

An Interview with Fran Lee
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Fran, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Never Tempt Fate. Where did the idea for this sexy story come from?
FL: Thanks so much for inviting me! I always have hot men running around in my mind, but the idea for this particular story came to me as I was trying to figure out a plot for Tonio. Tonio is a strong alpha male with very definite ideas about what he wants in a woman, and from life. I wanted to upset his apple cart…toss a heroine into the story who was not at all what he preferred or expected, and let her drive him up the walls. And he certainly didn’t expect Christine Lange.
HH: What do you like about Christine and what's her greatest strength?
FL: Christine Lange believes that whatever can possibly go wrong WILL go wrong. Every time she thinks she has life figured out, and has everything under control, the floor falls out from under her. Yet despite the feeling that things just can’t possibly go right, she refuses to give up. She has a love for people and beauty that just won’t stop, no matter what happens.
HH: What do you like best about Tonio and what makes him different than most heroes?
FL: Tonio is wealthy, gorgeous, and spoiled rotten by women around him. But he is kind and honorable to a fault. He could so easily take gross advantage of people, but he still believes in being fair. I really like that about him.
HH: How did you go about creating the world where their story takes place?
FL: Because this is contemporary, the world already exists, but creating the situations and the reactions is what took the time and effort. I never forget places I have visited or read about. But it is often more difficult to keep the continuity in my stories believable. So I do tend to create a “time and place” sequence that lives only in my mind and the story. I actually first wrote this story many years back, so there was a bit of scrambling to update the timeline to the here and now.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?
FL: Seeing my characters and my places emerge on paper (or hard drive J) is always a rush for me. Seeing an idea that has rambled around in my thoughts come alive and grow into a full story is always fun. Chris and Tonio have been with me in my heart for over fifteen years. It was thrilling to see them finally take flight.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
FL: I am currently working on another Native American (both hero and heroine) that is also a shifter, as well as a sci-fi erotic romance that has been shuffling around in my head for a couple of years.
HH: What are you most excited about in your career right now?
FL: Seeing five books published in only six months has been quite a rush. I had a very bad writer’s slump last year and then WHAM! Now I have to get myself back to work to try and keep up this momentum.
HH: What are you looking forward to most in the rest of 2012?
FL: I have a print compilation of my two ménage novellas coming out this month from Ellora’s Cave (Broken Rules). I introduced the book at Romanticon on October 14th at the Ellora’s Cave Sexporium and book signing. But the official release is this month. http://www.jasminejade.com/p-10435-broken-rules.aspx
I plan on having several more wips finished by the end of the holiday season. But I am looking forward to my favorite year end holidays…and I celebrate most of them!
HH: What are you reading at the moment?
FL: LOL! I have over 900 e-books and 9,000 print books in my library. I have been working my way through my e-books at roughly four a week. (I’ve already read most of the print books.) I just finished Shadow by Laurann Dohner and am starting on a print book I bought at Romanticon, Punishment and Mercy, by Cris Anson, another of my favorite authors.
HH: Do you have a writing hero and if so, who would it be?
FL: Heavens…I have so very many writing heroes it’s hard to choose only one. First, let me say that any author who starts from zip and creates a niche for him or herself in the world of writing is a true hero. That said, I believe I will have to choose Jaid Black, who started with absolutely nothing, and over the past dozen years has created a publishing empire that has given many hundreds of authors a boost into the limelight. I have her to thank for giving me a chance to strut my stuff.
HH: Thank you!
