Thou shall not kill.

For archangel Razi-el, he had no choice. He would break God’s commandment again if it were to save Uri-el from a demon’s talons. Yet even God’s most trusted archangel cannot avoid punishment. No longer Razi-el, he is now Izar, a Protector sworn to kill for the angels.

When a Protector kills an angel, Izar is summoned to work alongside Uri-el to capture the killer. Izar is shocked when his bloodlust spikes hot for the archangel. He knows better than to go after forbidden fruit. Refusing to give in to temptation, he ignores his body’s tempestuous arousal for Uri-el until a heated argument turns his blood into molten lust.

As they rush to find the killer, their passion plays into the demon’s plan. Izar will have to make a choice between life and death if he is to save Uri-el again.

An Interview with Viki Lyn
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Viki, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Sins of Lust. Where did you get the initial idea for this sizzling romance?

VL: Maybe it was because I was raised Catholic, but angels always held a fascination. When I got a call to submit to EC, I wanted something different. I’ve already had series out with shape shifters and vampires. Then it came to me -- what if an angel went against one of the Ten Commandments? Thou shall not kill -- and the story was born from that point on.

My idea for Covenant was a twist on an old story, the arranged marriage. Clan affiliation is important and bringing clans together by the bonding of mates is an honored tradition. My story is about Byrne and Livia and how these rules and traditions affect their lives.

HH: What will readers like about Razi-el?

VL: He’s a tortured character but has a warrior’s spirit and a soul of a romantic. He doubts himself and his motives and he can be unforgiving but he is willing to listen and learn from Uri-el. When he becomes a Protector and loses all of his memories, he is haunted by the past. He had lost something very important and wants more than anything to get it back. This is his journey.

HH: Why will readers love Uri-el?

VL: Archangel Uri-el questions everything including God’s word. He believes in love above all else and he doesn’t think in black and white. He has an arsenal of knowledge and uses it. He’s also dedicated to Razi-el even when he knows that he has to live without him.

HH: What sort of research went into this book?

VL: Lots. LOL I researched angel hierarchies and took bits and pieces from different sources and of course made up my own mythology. I also researched Greek and Roman architecture for creating the temples and heavenly cities. Then of course, I had to research demons and the Princes of Hell. I made up a lot of terms for rituals, buildings and tales -- mostly using Latin roots.

HH: What do you like about the mystical setting?

VL: I love to believe in celestial or heavenly worlds where beauty is so otherworldly that humans can’t comprehend it or take in its magnificence. I believe in magic and otherworldly beings, and want to live in world where it’s common place.

HH: What else can readers look forward to from you?

VL: I am taking time off from writing this year but I plan on finishing a third book in my Chances vampire series published by Loose Id. I also am writing a free Xmas read for Musa Publishing.

HH: Will you be attending any special events this year live or online?

VL:This might be too late but I’m featured on Curvy podcast May 8. I’m not attending any events though. I’m lying low this year. I will also be teaching a creativity workshop in San Diego -- Alchemy Quest -- with two wonderful artistic friends. We haven’t set the date yet but I’ll post information on my website when we finalize our plans.

HH: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of your writing?

VL: Too many that it distracts from writing. I love to travel and will be flying off to Japan this month. I love to create collages and mixed-media works of art. Also playing my favorite computer games when they come out (waiting for Dragon Age 3). Reading of course and watching movies or BBC TV series.

HH: What's your favorite quote ever?

VL: From the movie: All About Eve. Margo Channing: Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night!

HH: What's your favorite social media and how to use it to let readers know about your books?

VL:I’m not a social media groupie but if I had to choose Twitter over Facebook, I’d choose Facebook. I also have an invitation only Street Team FB account. If interested, email me and request to join.
