An Interview with Mary Alice Pritchard
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Mary Alice, thank you for talking with us at TRS! Please tell us about your featured book, Leopard Dreams.

MAP: Leopard Dreams is the second book in Tales of the Cat. It's Zack's book. He is the first next to the King of the Cats, Cole. His duty is to protect the king and his mate. Seeing how happy his friend is, Zack has hoped to find his mate as well. When he does, it's not as he had hoped. First, she doesn't acknowledge him as her mate and second, she could be the traiter feeding their cats to the enemy.

HH: Your book about feline shifters is unique. Where did you get the idea for this amazing story?

MAP: I've always loved cats and my feline muses insisted I had to write about them. You know how it is, you can't go against your muses.

HH: What do you like best about Zack and how do you relate to him?

MAP: I like Zack's devotion to his mate. Even when she decides to leave, he understands her needs and lets her go. How do I relate to him? Hmmmm I guess I just want a Zack of my own. ;)

HH: How did you go about creating the world for this story?

MAP: Actually, the world created itself as I wrote. I knew that they would be comfortable as shifters and they would live in their own little community. Other than that, it came together on its own.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

MAP: I've started book three, Tiger Lies. It's Usher's book. You have to read book two to know who Usher is. I've also got a erotica series I'm writing. Hopefully you will see it out one day.

HH: What do you think today's readers are looking for in the romance genre?

MAP: I think they want realistic conflicts even in the paranormal romance. They want to identify with the heroine in some way.

HH: What changes do you see coming in the genre and how will it affect you?

MAP: I am seeing more alternative subgenres in the future. Paranormal romance is no longer "out there" it's a norm now.

HH: What do you enjoy most about being a writer?

MAP: I love putting my daydreams into print. I enjoy writing what goes on in my head and knowing someone will read it and get what I was thinking.

HH: Do you read print books, ebooks, or both?

MAP: I read both. When it's not possible for me to take a book with me, I take either my ebook reader or read on my Iphone. I love technology.

HH: Any big plans for the fall?

MAP: I plan to finish three books before Christmas and have a good start on a forth.

HH: Thank you!
