About Renee Rose
Renee Rose is an author of erotic romance. She received a Bachelor's of Arts in Creative Writing from Knox College, where she was trained to write poetry and literary fiction and was the recipient of the Lorraine Smith prize for short fiction.
Upon graduation, she took a gig writing instruction manuals (yawn!) and sales and marketing copy for an engineering firm. After thirteen years numbing her mind and allowing her creative juices to evaporate, she read her first romance novel and was hooked.
Because she believes no romance is complete without spanking, she is thrilled to be incorporating her fantasies into fiction, publishing soft core spanking romances with Blushing Books. She lives in the Southwest USA with her husband and young children.
An Interview with Renee Rose
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Renee, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS BLUE. Your featured book is Deathless Love. Where did the idea for this sizzling story originate?
RR: A lot of this story takes place in a nightclub. My husband and I owned a nightclub for eight years, so I started with a specific scene idea and it went from there. Ironically, that scene was edited out!
HH: What do you like about Kate and what's her greatest strength?
RR: Kate is a very talented performer on stage, but off-stage she tends to lose her footing. She loves wholeheartedly, which is what eventually cures Dom of his disaffected outlook on life.
HH: What do you like best about Dominic and why will readers love him?
RR: Dom is a very hot alpha hero. Because he's a vampire, he senses Kate's emotions and can tailor their D/s scenes to tweak her just perfectly. Of course, he's very protective and great with the aftercare as well.
HH: How did you go about creating the world their story takes place in?
RR: I tried to weave the majority of the world-building into the first chapter so that the book was more about the love-story than the vampire world.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?
RR: I absolutely loved all the characters in this story, including the supporting characters. I would like to go on and write stories for each of them as well.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
RR: I will be publishing a regency novella and another medieval novella soon - both spanking romances, of course!
HH: What are you most excited about in your career right now?
RR: I am having an amazing time connecting with other authors in my genre. The support from the community has been overwhelming. Author Cara Bristol organized a spanking authors tribe and we've all written Halloween spanking stories for a "spank or treat" blog hop. It will include stories from Cara Bristol, Sue Lyndon, Starla Kaye, Celeste Jones, Alice Dark and possibly others!
HH: What are you looking forward to most in the rest of 2012?
RR: I've been on a wild ride since I published my first book this past spring, so I'm just curious to see how far I will have traveled by the end of the year.
HH: What are you reading at the moment?
RR: I am reading Maintenance Night by Trent Evans. Hot, hot hot!
HH: Do you have a writing hero and if so, who would it be?
RR: JR Ward is totally my writing heroine. Someday I hope my writing will be as tight and my stories as well-crafted as hers...
HH: Thank you!
