An Interview with Carrie Ann Ryan
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Carrie Ann, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Blurred Expectations and is part of your Redwood Pack series. Where did you get the idea for their sizzling, yet emotionally-engaging series?
CAR: Hi!! Thank you so much for having me and so, so much for saying that! The Redwood Pack series came to me from the first hero, Kade. I had his voice in my head and then I found he had brothers and a whole world that needed to be found.
HH: What can you tell us about the earlier books in the series?
CAR: Each book in the series goes over an overall plot arc, but centers around one brother at a time. The Redwood Pack is a Pack centered in the NW USA and is one of the strongest Packs in the world. But a rival Pack, the Centrals, are siding with the demons to take over. Each book is dark, steamy, and gut wrenching -- at least that’s what my readers tell me.
HH: How does Blurred Expectations continue it?
CAR: Blurred Expectations is about the triad from my book Trinity Bound. After each novel, I like to do an after-the-HEA novel about a previously done couple, or in this case, triad. During the past two books, we’ve seen the troubles that Reed, Hannah, and Josh, went through and I wanted to solve those and give a taste.
HH: What do you like best about Hannah and why will readers empathize with her?
CAR: Her strength. She’s my quietest heroine I have so far, but she has the most power. She’s a witch and can kill if she has to, though she doesn’t because she’d rather use her powers to Heal. She’s been through so much, but keeps going.
HH: What do you like best about Josh and Reed and why will readers love them?
CAR: I hadn’t planned on writing a triad book until Josh came in out of nowhere. I love these two because they’re both Alpha as hell, but fall back to let the other take charge when needed. I think that’s why I love them…and why my readers do.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
CAR: Oh so much! As for the Redwood Pack, there will be one more novella this year called Forgiveness that is about Bay and Adam. And then the big novel this year will be Maddox’s story, Shattered Emotions.
HH: How does 2013 promise to be different from 2012 for you?
CAR: This will be the year of Print! LOL. All of my books will be in print from me and I have a book coming out 1-2 times a month. OMG crazy!
HH: What's your writing schedule like?
CAR: I wake up, do admin work and go through some of my emails. Write for 6-10 hours. Edit and read at night. I’m really, boring, but it gets the job done. I work seven days a week, sometimes working up to 20 hours a day, but I love my job.
HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?
CAR: I’m on Facebook often to contact others and to breathe, but I love emails!
HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2013?
CAR: Moving! We’re moving across the country at the end of summer so yay!
Thank you so much for having me!
HH: Thank you!
