Sultry Summers

Danielle is ready to challenge a twisting, turning road known as Tail of the Dragon on her Ducati sport bike. Forced to stop because of a violent unpredicted storm, she parks near the dam where the eleven-mile stretch of road begins. Another challenge bursts from the weird, purple lightning storm.

Garnith, a changeling/dragon, emerges in the twenty-first century over the Fontana Dam in North Carolina. Swooping down to drink from the fresh water of the dam, he accidently touches a power-line, and, injured begins to change. He lands on the overlook where Danielle has taken refuge. Garnith passes out.

Danielle is terrified but entranced with the creature changing before her eyes into a handsome, incredibly built, naked man.

Garnith wakes to see Danielle. Where and when is this strange place the wizard has sent him?

Coming in April from Decadent Publishing!

Danielle and Garnith realize chance has little to do with their meeting. Destiny has played her hand and soon both learn the evil wizard has discovered his way into the future and another life to exact revenge on Garnith. The wizard discovers Garnith’s attraction to Danielle and will use her to his ends. Unless Garnith can stop him.

About Sultry Summers

I’ve written as Sultry Summers for several years now instead of writing under my given name. I prefer it that way. But I must admit it is great to see your name on a bookshelf. Having had that experience I can now settle in as Sultry. I write for enjoyment and escape, not for fame though I won’t turn it down.

Sultry was a product of an afternoon thunderstorm in Florida. I will tell the reader, though the thunderstorms in North Carolina rival those in Florida. The intensity of the lightning in the mountains is truly awe inspiring.

Since moving up to the Blue Ridge I’ve been more productive in writing if less active physically, the winters don’t motivate me to ride my bicycle as much, nor do the steep mountain roads. Lance Armstrong I’m not. But now I really have to watch the calories. Fortunately the area we now live in is a bit flatter and friendlier to biking and walking, the Little Tennessee River that runs through our property is wonderful to walk beside.

I am proud to have two new books coming out soon and a third already contracted for later in the year.

This one is a full length novel and one I’ve been looking forward to seeing it released for a long time. I have a couple of others just waiting their turn. That isn’t to say I don’t have a computer full of shorter length stories in line. I do! I invite you to visit my web site – I’ve re-vamped it complete with the pages for the new releases, except the book later in the year – those are coming.

I invite my readers to check out my back list below, reference my web site at www.sqpens.com for further information, blurbs, excerpts and reviews.

An Interview with Sultry Summers
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Sultry, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Tail of the Dragon and it's the sizzling tale of a stranded woman and an injured stranger. Where did you get the inspiration for this amazing tale?

SS:Hi Holly – Thanks for featuring me this month – It’s a really special month because of the release of Tail Of The Dragon. This inspiration came about on the back of my husband’s motorcycle while riding the road between North Carolina and Tennessee known as Tail of the Dragon. It’s a real popular road for bikers. An eleven mile stretch of twisting turning switch-back curves, a real challenging ride, and it’s beautiful to boot. It has become so popular that both states police forces have take care to keep it as safe as possible. The book is dedicated to those who have rode it and especially those who didn’t finish it.

HH: What can you tell us about Danielle and what makes her unique among your heroines?

SS: I like heroines with moxie, and guts. Danielle has that but she has more, she is reincarnated and doesn’t know it until she meets Garnith. She is also compassionate, possibly a little too trusting, she sees a dragon change before her eyes into a man (a naked man) and sticks around to help him out.

HH: What can you tell us about Gamith and what is special about him?

SS: Now he is special! He’s from the eleventh century way up in the highlands of Scotland. He was already six hundred years old when he left the eleventh century and didn’t look a day over twenty-six. Possibly that’s because he’s a changeling/ dragon, he’s quiet good looking too.

HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?

SS: That’s a hard question. This story came to me on that ride, both ways, and just developed. Writing it was fun, it just flowed. But really, I enjoyed the edits. The lady who was my editor helped bring the characters out and give the story life, made it more real.

HH: What else do each of you have in store for lucky readers?

SS: Coming on the heels of Tail Of The Dragon – at the end of May – Submissions In Time will be released. Another time travel but this time my characters go backward in time. A very feisty C.E.O of a large business gets entangled with a corporate buyer who is more aggressive than she is. He wants her, she wants him but she’s mad at him and won’t give an inch. So… he takes her back in time where he controls everything, or thinks he does. Of course in the 1700’s there are pirates to be dealt with. It gets a little ticklish for them both. Especially with my heroines so angry with my hero, sparks really fly.

HH: How has the romance genre changed since you began writing?

SS: Wow – more sex! More authors, more intricate plots. You better stay in the game and not take a break, found that out the hard way with a couple of long dry spells of my own.

HH: What changes in the market please you most?

SS: Variety! Now there is something for everyone. Men are reading romance. Men are writing romance. I think it’s great. It gives the genre a different perspective.

HH: What sources of inspiration do you draw from for ideas?

SS: Everything around me. Where we live now is very historic. I’ve said it’s like living in Gone With the Wind but with mountains. There is so much going on in this back water area it unbelievable. A lot more happens here than it ever did down in Florida.

HH: What's your favorite book so far in 2012?

SS: The year is young yet. So I’ll name my favorite, that I didn’t write, but have read in the last six months. That’s got to be Cinderella Wore Combat Boots. I love that book. It was short – sweet and highlights our military. Now as for a book I’ve written, well right now, Tail Of The Dragon.

HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2012?

SS: The publication of Atlantis Vortex scheduled for release in December – I’ve worked on this one for a long time, it’s in final proofs and going into edits soon. This isn’t a short work. It is a full novel length Romance Science Fiction/Fantasy. It was out for a very short time over six years ago and since then has been much improved. It did well then, I expect it will again. I hope the readers will believe Atlantis is out there – NOW, just waiting to be revealed. The love story in it – well you’ll just have to read it.

HH: Thank you!
