Russell is a sex worker with issues of his own. He's also a Dom with lots of heart, who sees a glimmer of the real man trapped beneath the cold façade Hank presents to the world. Russell is used to comforting the lonely men who seek out his services, but he doesn't count on his own powerful reaction to the handsome, difficult Hank Seeley.
On this tough road to redemption, Hank will fall hard before he can hope to rise. The erotic exploration of dominance and submission is enough to draw the two men into a passionate connection, but in the end, it may not be enough. Unless Hank can face his own demons, he will lose the one thing worth fighting for-love.

An Interview with Claire Thompson
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Claire, thank you for talking with us at TRS BLUE! Please tell us about your featured book, Safe in His Arms.CT: Safe in His Arms is the sequel to Wicked Hearts, where we met the dastardly Hank Seeley. Hank was Reese's controlling ex-lover, who did his best to come between Reese and Jeff. When Safe in His Arms picks up the story, still bitter over Reese's desertion, Hank continues to use anger and sex to cover the shards of his broken heart. Not even bothering to pick up guys at bars, Hank orders in, calling for young rent boys to service him until he grows tired of them. When Russell Evans, a big bear of a man, shows up one night instead of the ordered twink, Hank ends up getting more than he bargained for.

HH: What do you like best about this story of these two special men CT: I like the idea that no one is beyond redemption. That you can totally mess up your life, hit rock bottom, lose everything you thought mattered, but if you try to make amends, stop acting like a fool and do the right thing, you can turn it around. I know it's a pretty optimistic view of things, but hey, this is romance!
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers? CT: Next up is a cowboy novel! Not a sequel to Texas Surrender, but something totally different. As yet untitled, it will be a BDSM love story between an unlikely pair - an environmental scientist is hired by a large ranch owner to do some kind of research deep in wildness land near the ranch, and a rugged, stubborn cowboy who works on the ranch, and is assigned to accompany the scientist, to keep him out of trouble.
At first they don't like each other one little bit, but a natural disaster that leaves them stranded and alone for a period of time in the wilderness forces them to work together just to survive. In the process they learn a whole lot about who and what they really are, and what really matters. Lots of hot manlove and BDSM exploratory play.
HH: What do you think today's readers are looking for and how do you fill that demand in your writing? CT: Erotic romance readers want more than just a sexy read. They want plot and character development. They want a book with a story they continue to think about long after they've turned the last page. When I write, I try very hard to get into the heads and hearts of my characters. They become real to me. While I'm working on a novel, those characters consume me. They color my dreams, they are always in my thoughts. I become them. I fall in love with them. I ache with them, I triumph with them. I want to offer that same experience to my readers. I want them, in the end to care just as much as I do.
HH: What are you most proud of in your writing career? CT: About a year and a half ago I decided to take the plunge and go indie. I created my own tiny publishing imprint, and surrounded myself with great folks (web mistress, cover artist, amazing beta readers and fine line editors), and off I went! I've released five novels since then (Accidental Slave, Wicked Hearts, Submission Times Two (which won the National Leather Association first prize for excellence in BDSM fiction), Texas Surrender and Heart of Submission), as well as The Solitary Knights of Pelham Bay Series, the first four installments. Even more amazing, I am not only holding my own, but am actually earning more than twice what I earned writing for other publishers. Best of all, I have full creative control. It's the best decision I ever made in my life.
HH: What makes it all worth it to you as an author? CT: Dear Ms. Thompson:
I have just completed the first reading of Handyman and felt compelled to write. I loved the book because of certain similarities in my own life with the protagonists in your beautiful and moving story…When I was 52 years old I met and completely and utterly fell head over heels in love with a man 17 years my senior…Thanks again for your story. I shall read it many times, I am sure. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Or this one:
Dear Claire,
Thank you so much for sharing your writing gift with the world. I am addicted to your work, and can't read your books fast enough. At the first of the month my husband and I headed to Domincan Republic for vacation, and the first thing I packed was half dozen of my Claire Thompson novels to read on the beach!! It was a perfectly, hot and steamy week of reading!! :) Thank you again; and I am really looking forward to Hank Seeley's story, Safe in His Arms.
HH: Do you read print books, ebooks, or both?
CT: To date I am strictly a print book reader, mainly because I don't have an ebook reader. I am not averse to the idea, I just haven't jumped on the bandwagon, yet. I do enjoy holding a book in my hands. I hate reading on the computer. But from what I understand, an ebook can give pretty much the illusion of holding a book and turning its pages, so I might just break down one of these decades and get one!
HH: Any big plans for the summer?
CT: I work year-round at my day job, alas, but we do have one glorious week on the Jersey shore planned in August. My youngest is headed off to college this fall, so this might be the last summer all the kids are with us for summer vacation. My favorite vacation is at the beach, writing in the wee hours before anyone else is awake, then hanging out by the ocean all day, swimming, resting and reading, then out for fresh seafood and walks along the boardwalk at night. A little bit of heaven.
Thanks for taking the time to interview me. I really appreciate it. I love to hear from readers and answer every and all email.
HH: Thank you!
