Kate's dry spell, following a humiliating breakup, is about to end when she sets her sights on a hottie who's suddenly in her line of vision every morning. The hunky, much-younger man is exactly what she needs to boost her damaged ego and she's certain the age difference and his occupation will keep her from losing her heart to the gorgeous stud. But Kate quickly discovers there's more to Jake Mosley than meets the eye and his steamy brand of loving has her rethinking all of her convictions.
If Kate can find the courage to let go of past pains and let a younger man work his magic on her, she just might end up with all she's ever dreamed of…

An Interview with Calista Fox
By Katie Raines, Assistant for The Romance Studio
KR: Calista, thank you for joining us at TRS BLUE. Please tell us about Until Jake.CF: Thanks for having me again! I'm excited about the release of Until Jake because it's my first Ellora's Cave release. I have a couple more coming up, but until now, I've only written for Red Sage Publishing (the Secrets volumes and eRed Sage), so it was fun to do something different and reach out to another audience. The story is contemporary and fast-paced, yet highly sensual (it is an Ellora's Cave release, after all!). I love the characters because they feel very real to me, and they face very real situations that give them depth and make them intriguing people.
KR: Your heroine, to get past old hurts, propositions a younger man and gets more than she bargained for. Where did you get the idea for this story? CF: My story ideas come from the most unlikely sources, and this one was no exception. I live in a golf community, and sometimes when I'm out walking my dogs, the landscapers will whistle at me as I pass by and sometimes I just smile, but most of the time, I think, "What is the point of that?" Same thing with construction workers and their catcalls. Seriously, why do they do this?! Anyway, the little devil on my shoulder thought it would be fun to turn the tables and have a woman proposition a construction worker - who happens to be a much younger man. But, in Until Jake, Kate quickly learns her "construction worker" isn't at all what she expected… And it just gets steamier from there!
KR: As part of Ellora's Cave's Oh Yum! series, your story features an older heroine, younger man. What was writing such a story like for you? CF: I've never written a younger hero - and, in fact, I prefer older men. So I really had to put some thought into how my hero would respond to an older woman and what the dynamics of the relationship would be like. The thing I like about Jake is that he's an old soul. He's only 25, but he's been the "man of the house" since he was a kid and his father passed away. So he's extremely mature and a bit intense, but he's sexy as hell and quite skilled in the bedroom! This balances out Kate's insecurity about being with a younger man, especially following a failed relationship that's left her a bit gun-shy when it comes to love.
KR: What do you think will appeal to readers about this series -- and your story? CF: I like that my editor was a stickler for including the emotional and realistic elements inherent to a younger man/older woman hook-up. Meaning, women have insecurities about their bodies and their skin and their sexual prowess when they leave their twenties (okay, sometimes even before that!). It doesn't matter how successful you are or how great of shape you're in, there's still that little voice in your head that says, "He could be with a woman his own age who doesn't have a fear of carbs, or a single wrinkle, or two kids, or a demanding job, or… So, why'd he choose me?" That's a little dose of reality that has to be dealt with and I was happy to be able to weave it in without deluding the intensity of the attraction between these two people.
Also, the whole "cougar" concept is extremely liberating for women. After all the years of hearing about older men leaving their significant others for a younger woman, I like that we're turning the tables!
KR: What else do you have for lucky readers that you'd like to tell us about? CF: Lots, as usual! My second EC release, Jaden's Wicked Witch, comes out on June 20. It's about a hot-hot-hot sorcerer who has to return a wayward witch to the realm of magik, only he falls under her spell and things get rather complicated from there. Not to mention steamy!
I also have a story in the next Secrets anthology that comes out in July. Forever My Love is in Secrets Volume 23 and it's already getting great reviews! It's got a very unique and complex plot, which I was afraid would be difficult to pull off in a novella, but it worked out perfectly, so I can't wait for it to hit bookshelves! (And www.eredsage.com).
I have several other books coming out this year and all the details are on my web site at www.calistafox.com. I have some great contests going on right now, too!
KR: How much time is devoted to your writing career between the work itself, promotion, appearances, etc.? CF: It's definitely a full-time job - and then some - for me. I write quickly, so I typically have a high number of releases per year in both ebook and print form. I'm not a fan of promo, even though I used to work in PR. Go figure. But I do try to get out to conferences and booksignings several times a year because I love to meet readers. Something cool that's been happening lately is that, as I'm talking with potential or existing readers and getting to know them, they're asking me to select a book for them to buy. So I get to think about my stories and figure out which one would suit them the best as an introduction to my writing. I've been getting tons of emails from readers who say I picked the right story for them and they're hooked! That is just the coolest thing!
KR: Where and when do you do your best writing? CF: I write everywhere! I write when I'm at the airport or flying, when I'm at a hotel, when I'm at home, when I'm at the beach… I am such an addict! I travel a lot, so I've become very accustomed to immersing myself in my writing no matter where I'm at. I particularly like being out in public when I write, either at my local golf club, a restaurant or a resort. I guess it provides the illusion of social interaction even though I'm focused solely on writing.
KR: How difficult is it for a writer to find a balance between the writing itself and the other work of an author's career? CF: Between the daily grind and then all we do for promoting our books and research and whatnot, it can be extremely frustrating to find, at the end of the day, that you had no time to write. I've had days like that recently and it's very stressful, especially when I'm feeling creative, but I'm not able to get to my computer.
KR: What goals have you set for yourself at this point? CF: Wow, that's a great question. I am a very driven, goal-oriented person. Writing, for me, is something I simply can't live without. I just started doing this professionally a few years ago and I've been really happy with my progress, but it's all been a learning experience up to now… and will continue to be as I move forward. But I feel like I've laid a good foundation, so now I'm ready to write longer books (I'm primarily an anthologist at this point, although I do have two novels coming out later this year). I intend to branch out in other genres and, yes, I hope to be a national best-selling author in the next couple of years. (I know, every author says that!)
KR: What else would you like to tell readers out there? CF: I am always so happy to hear from readers and I like meeting them at booksignings. I try to keep my web site (www.calistafox.com) and newsletter up to date so my readers know about new releases and contests and appearances. Mostly, I'm just so very grateful that I have readers! I love what I do and it's just incredible to know that people look specifically for my books. So, thanks!
KR: Thank you!
