As a demon of the Ethereal, it’s Duncan Sinclair’s job to sway humans toward the path to hell. Duncan is very good at his job—until a prank gone wrong lands him in the upper realm doing penance. Now he’s being bombarded with love, kindness, and affectionate sex…and it’s killing him. The only way out is to agree to sway souls for heaven, with an angel as his partner, by all that’s unholy!

Order today from Samhain Publishing!

Sapphira may be an angel of the upper realm, but she chafes in a bland existence where everything is so pure. It’s hard to hide her secret yearning for sin. Even harder with Duncan, who’s everything the dark core of her soul craves: handsome, sexy and refreshingly naughty.

Confronted with an angel who drinks, swears, and takes him to bliss with her sinfully delightful body, Duncan finds himself at risk of losing his heart to the enemy.

Loving this angel could land him right where he doesn’t want to be—heaven. But what’s a demon to do when he’s falling?

An Interview with Marie Harte
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Marie, thanks for talking with us at TRS. Please tell us about your featured work, Duncan's Descent.

MH: Duncan's Descent follows Duncan Sinclair, a demon in the Ethereal whose job is to sway souls for hell. A prank gone wrong lands him in heaven, paying for his sins. As if angelic love and forgiveness aren't enough, he's forced to work with an angel that fires his blood. Sapphira gets to him on a level that worries him, because when she lies, swears and kisses him like sin itself, he pushes past the edge of lust and starts teetering on the way to love.

HH: An angel and a demon meet and sparks fly. Where did you get this fascinating idea of bringing an angel in dangerous proximity of a lusty demon?

MH: I wrote a story called The Dragons' Demon, part of Samhain's I Dream of Dragons Vol 1 anthology. I wanted to incorporate dragons into an unconventional world. The Ethereal sort of appeared in my mind's eye, where demons and angels vie for human souls, and dragons and other dark creatures watch from a distance.

HH: How did you bring your vision of their world to life?

MH: I tinkered with what-if's, dark places, and what would be funny to see together. Angels, demons and dragons, oh my!

HH: What did you like best about Duncan?

MH: He's a fun-loving, sexual guy who loves his job. He makes no excuses for what he is. He knows he has an important reason for being, even if others don't like him.

HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?

MH: Sapphira's acceptance of herself (and Duncan's hot lovin'!!!)

HH: What are you working on now?

MH: Right now I'm working on a paranormal for Loose Id. Circe's Recruits: Roane is the first of (hopefully) four books about five ex-military men. The squad was experimented on and turned into super-soldiers resulting in some serious drawbacks and incredible abilities. CR: Roane and CR:Zack & Ace, are the first two books in the series. And pretty steamy!

HH: What's your writing schedule like to include actually writing, promoting, and everything else?

MH: Well, right now I'm in San Francisco at RWA. At home, and once school starts, I'll write while the kids are in school and at night. Until then, I write at night. Promotion is a time killer, and I usually try to do that in limited bursts one or two days a week. Otherwise I feel like I'm wasting valuable writing time.

HH: Where and when do you do your best work?

MH: When I have a cup of coffee at my side and the house to myself. Then I sit in my office (the playroom) and type like a mad woman.

HH: What's your favorite way to interact with readers?

MH: I love email. And I really like meeting people at conferences.

HH: What are you looking forward to in the remainder of of 2008?

MH: I hope to complete a third futuristic for Total E Bound, the third Ethereal Foes book for Samhain, and start working on Adrian and Lucas's story from my Dracon shifters (Firebreather books) for Amber Quill.

HH: Thank you!
