About Devyn Quinn

Devyn Quinn lives in the scenic Southwest, though she has called several other states home. She is a huge fan of dark gothic literature, and read tons of books on history and biographies. She especially enjoys reading books on Hollywood before the 1960’s. Devyn lives with her many cats, five ferrets (yes, five!), and Shih Tzu, Tess.

After writing for several small presses, including Samhain Publishing and Ellora’s Cave, Devyn debuted as a Kensington author with Flesh and the Devil in March 2007. Since that time, she has released 6 titles with Kensington, and will be releasing 4 more books through Spring 2010 through the Aphrodisia imprint. Her titles include the contemporary genre, as well as intensely dark paranormals.

In 2009, Devyn joined NAL, which will launch a new three book paranormal romance series. Her first title will launch in mass market in Spring 2011.

An Interview with Devyn Quinn
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Thank you for talking with us at TRS BLUE. Please tell us about your story in the Dangerous Ties anthology, Personal Possessions.

DQ: Thanks for the welcome, Holly.

Personal Possessions is the story of bad girl, Nikki Malone. On the run from a heist gone wrong, she's lost in the wildness of the New Mexico desert. Unfortunately, Nikki's gotten herself in a bad way. She's been shot and that lands her in hell. There, she encounters demon Jackson Sullivan and learns what her fate in hell is going to be... I won't say any more, but let the reader find out what happens to Nikki.

HH: How did you come to be part of this sizzling anthology?

DQ: I begged and whined to my then Kensington editor to throw me a bone, as I really needed the money.

HH: What do you like best about Jackson and why is her perfect for Nikki?

DQ: Jackson is the personification of perfect evil in every way. Although she doesn't know it, Nikki is also the devious sort, though she doesn't yet recognize that in herself.

HH: What do you think of the entire anthology?

DQ: I think it's fabulous that I got to be in an antho with two of my best friends! It was cool that my editor let me suggest who'd I'd like as co-authors for the anthology.

HH: So you have a series with NAL (Berkley) to be released in Spring 2011. What can you tell us about that?

DQ: Only that it is outside my normal genre and delves into a lore not commonly associated with Devyn Quinn. Beyond that, I can't say any more.

HH: What's your favorite type of story to write and why?

DQ: My favorite type is the one that falls into place and practically writers itself.

HH: What is your idea of a perfect hero?

DQ: Tall, dark and an absolute uber-alpha bastard. Out of all the heroes I'll take Morgan Saint-Evanston (The Keeper of Eternity) any day of the week!

HH: In a market crowded with steamy tales, what do you think today's reader is looking for?

DQ: Stories that evoke real emotions, and don't try and toss in cheap thrills just so the author can up their word count.

HH: What are you reading now?

DQ: A biography of Benjamin Franklin.

HH: What would you most like to accomplish in your career in the next three years?

DQ: That I will still have a career in 3 years, LOL

HH: Thank you!
