Reviews for Love Me Tomorrow

"Humor adds enjoyment to this adventure... Excellent anthology of top writers... Stories are strong, with wonderful heroes and heroines and hot sex." -- Fated Mates Anthology : 4 1/2 Stars - TOP PICK - Romantic Times and was the 2005 RT Reviewers' Choice Award Nominee for Best Paranormal Erotic Romance

"LOVE ME TOMORROW brings action and adventure... Fighting aliens... A major case of lust, Shalene is a woman who can do it all. Mecah is the sexy humanoid that captures the reader's attention and holds it until the very end. Passion rides high... Readers will love Sally Painter's creative and intriguing characters and interesting plot." -- ROMANCE JUNKIES, 4.0

"This is a fast-paced romance interlaced with science fiction. This descriptive tale captivated me from the beginning. I was drawn into the daily human struggle to defeat an enemy, blended with the need to find love and protect it, regardless of the circumstances. Shalene struggles to trust Mecah, which is understandable because of her past. I admired Mecah's ability to continue to woo Shalene, in spite of her resistance. They both have their own personal enemies to vanquish, and they do it with style. Pick up this enjoyable tale." -- Just Erotic Romance Reviews, 4 Stars

"Ms. Painter proves that no matter her topic, she is a talented writer. This story has every bit of her trademark action combined with sensuality, not to mention a kick-ass, take no prisoners heroine. Shalene is tough because she has to be in order to survive in what is traditionally a man's world. Some of the best scenes in Love Me Tomorrow are when Shalene and her Commanding Officer are arguing, and she comes out the winner." -- Romance Reviews Today

"Love Me Tomorrow features a burgeoning love amidst a planet riddled with turmoil and pain, with the loss of life and the death of loved ones. What may seem unbelievable to Shalene becomes all too real as she experiences a mind meld with Mecah that she never thought possible. I particularly enjoyed how this regimented woman took to love. It opened her heart in a way that made the future seem bright again, something that hadn't seemed at all possible before Mecah. In direct contrast to Shalene's intense personality, Mecah's fun loving spirit and humorous jests lightened what is a very dark story. Love Me Tomorrow is an impressive addition to this anthology." -- The Romance Studio

Shalene Courers is a freedom fighter, not by choice, but necessity when Earth was invaded by the Demrons, a reptilian species intent on depleting the Earth of all of its resources and the entire human (should read annihilating the entire human...)

Freedom fighters had no idea another alien species is on the planet, much less working with the Demrons. (was on the planet)

An Interview with the Sally Painter
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Sally, thank you for talking with us at TRS BLUE! Please tell us about your featured book, Love Me Tomorrow.

SP: Thank you for having me here.

Shalene Courers is a freedom fighter, not by choice, but necessity when Earth was invaded by the Demrons, a reptilian species intent on depleting the Earth of all of its resources and the entire human species before moving on to the next planet. Shalene's team has been tracking a Demron scouting party and are surprised to find Mecah, another kind of alien, a humanoid. The freedom fighters had no idea another alien species is on the planet, much less working with the Demrons.

Mecah and his crew were sucked into a wormhole and ended up in orbit around Earth only to be boarded and taken prisoners by the Demrons. Mecah is intent on freeing his crew and returning to his world. He has no interest in the battle taking place on Earth until he meets Shalene, who he instantly recognizes as his Kismet Mate, something sacred to his race. As you can imagine, they are inexplicably drawn to each other, even though neither trusts the other and each has a different agenda.

HH: Sparks fly in this adventurous story of a brave woman and a sexy humanoid. Where did you get the idea for their story?

SP: The kernel for the story came from work I did as a participant in a 3-year paranormal project where I underwent weekly past life regressions and various meditations to gain access to other dimensions and realms of existence. The goal of the project was knowledge and the surprise of the process was spiritual enlightenment. It was a truly amazing time in my life that I carry with me to this day.

One day I asked the doctor if he'd ever conducted a progression into the future and he was intrigued. I really wanted to see if it was possible and this story is based in part on what I saw and experienced. The Demrons are purely fictional as is Mecah, both of these elements weren't planned, they simply appeared when I started writing the story, and so I had to figure out who they were and what they wanted.

HH: This story was part of the Fated Mates anthology originally? Is it different now or expanded?

SP: This is a book that has been repurposed from the anthology Fated Mates, which was nominated for the RT Reviewer's Choice Award for Paranormal. So it's been given a second life, all its own. Readers need not worry, the original story is complete and intact.

HH: What do you personally like best about Mecah?

SP: He is such an irreverent and cocky character, I instantly fell in love with him. But the most intriguing aspect in writing him was his diehard passion and belief that Shalene is his Kismet Mate and they are destined to be together. The only way that could have ever happened was for his ship to get sucked into the worm hole and end up in a parallel universe. When Mecah meets Shalene, he realizes everything that is happening is a matter of fulfilling his destiny. He becomes determined to win Shalene's heart and get her to see the truth of their kismet.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

SP: Aw, thank you. I've been sidetracked with my other career as a Senior Writer and Site Editor with LoveToKnow.com, so I've not had much time to write books this past year, but I have two completed in the hussies series that I'm editing before submitting to my editor, which will finish off my commitment in that series and have another gargoyle in the series, Gargoyle Seduced that I'm working on edits. I hope to get that series finished up by next year and am toying with the idea of making Love Me Tomorrow into a series. I guess it will depend on where the muse takes me and if my readers are interested in reading more about Mecah and Shalene and their fight for freedom.

HH: What do you think today's readers are looking for and how do you fill that demand in your writing?

SP: I think readers still want a HEA. I know I sure do. It's why I love the romance genre. I have enough reality in my life without investing time in a book only to have one of the main characters be killed off at the end. Most of us have lost enough people in our lives not to want to do that in a book we're emotionally invested in. I mean, for me, there's no fun in that at all. And, I read for fun.

I surely write for fun and the excitement of finding out what's going to happen next. I think most romance readers are there for the thrill of the ride and I try to make it a great one for my readers by making it an emotional roller coaster with lots of hot sex as well as an intricate plot. I love complex plots in stories with lots of little side plots, so it takes some time for me to write my books, but my readers really seem to appreciate that mix of high emotion, sex and plot. It's what I like, so I'll keep writing the way I write.

HH: What are you most proud of in your writing career?

SP: To have the opportunity to connect with readers who enjoy my books. To me, that is the greatest reward and satisfaction of any writing career. My readers are such amazing people. Many of them write to me to express how they enjoyed a book, share a little about their lives and it is such an honor to be on this journey together. I'm thrilled that my books can give them pleasure and a brief escapism into fantasy. Life without a bit of fantasy can be overwhelming. We all need an outlet and this genre is unlike any other. Thanks to the readers. To a large extent, the genre is about the readers as much as it is about the story. The two are very closely interwoven.

HH: What makes it all worth it to you as an author?

SP: I'll have to refer you to the previous question. That is what it's all about for me.

HH: Do you read print books, ebooks, or both?

SP: I read both. Being a Gemini, I love gadgets and the most recent technologies. I'm also a product of my generation and am an instant gratification addict. eBooks and anything else I can order online are automatically my favorite commodities.

HH: Any big plans for the summer?

SP: Summer is slipping away so quickly! We're in the process of remodeling an old family home for at least another year, so we're still very busy with that project. My family loves summer and going to the beach. One of my passions is organic gardening. My family enjoys this activity and we look forward to it every summer. It's more than just growing our own healthy food, there's something very ancient and mystical about that earth connection it gives you. If you ever do it once, you'll become addicted, at least we are. So we don't travel too long or far during the growing and harvesting season. We've taken a few weekend jaunts back home to the mountains and have a few short vacation trips planned to the beach, of course. Once the garden season is over, we'll take a longer vacation, but haven't settled on a destination. <g> All in all, it's a wonderful summer so far, filled with grilling out, late night dinners on the patio with family and friends, good wine, fresh food, great conversations, and lots of fun books to reads. I really couldn't ask for a more ideal summer. <g> I hope you and other readers have a wonderful summer!

HH: Thank you!
