Reviews for The Written Word Book Three: Demons

"It isn't often you find a male gay romance that gets a straight female excited. Demons is one of those rare tales. From the first paragraph, Jamieson Wolf weaves his wondrous grasp of the language into a lasso that grabs the reader and keeps them mesmerized with anticipation. The heat generated from this story would explode any meter that tried to measure it. Once again, Mr. Wolf has outdone himself with his magical tale weaving--readers will not be disappointed." - Joyce Anthony, Author of Storm

"Demons starts off with a bang and just keeps getting better. I was drawn in from the very first paragraph and couldn't stop reading until I had finished the book. Not only does Wolf weave all kinds of mythology into his tale, he has also written one of the hottest, most romantic and thrilling tales I have ever read. I can't wait for book four!" - Sonya Moon

"Not only is Demons a well written story of murder, mythology, mayhem and magic, it's also a very intricate romance about what happens when two men who have their own internal demons have to face what is inside of them before they can let themselves love. Full of passion, hot sex and great emotional depth, Demons is not to be missed!" - Jessica Spinlet

An Interview with Jamieson Wolf
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Jamieson, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS BLUE. Please tell us about your featured book, Demons.

JW: Well, Demons is the third book in The Written Word Series.

Kendrick is a Shadow Demon, a being of darkness. As one of Crushing's former henchmen, he is now held captive by Bartley, a Demi-God and one of the protectors of the realms.

Bartley is afraid that Kendrick may escape and go to Crushing's aid once more. But there is more to Kendrick that frightens Bartley; like the growing attraction between them.

Bartley will have to deal with the demons of his past before he can give his heart to another. Kendrick will have to free his heart if he has any hope of saving the man he loves.

HH: This is the third story in your wildly popular The Written Word series. How did the series itself first come about?

JW: Originally, there wasn't really a series. I had written Witches and it was meant to be a one off. But then I thought of what would happen after; I knew that Owen's journey wasn't really done and I began to wonder about the rest of the characters in the series.

And so the idea of a series was born!

HH: What can you tell us about the first two books in the series -- Witches and Silent Communication?

JW: In The Written Word Book One: Witches, we meet Owen Wolfe.

Owen has always been able to see the Witches.

Every year at Halloween, they appear for three days and then disappear. This year, however, is different. This year, something is hunting the Witches.

Jace, the only male Witch in existence, goes to Owen for help. Jace knows that there is a magic inside of Owen that can help them defeat the hunter.

He also knows that Owen has been hurt, that he must do what he can to heal Owen's heart, even if it means losing him.

Will their love have a chance to grow or will they become the hunted?

In The Written Word Book Two: Silent Communication we meet Kendrick.

Kendrick never planned on finding another immortal while trolling for sex in a local mall bathroom. But this is exactly what Kendrick does find in the form of Northaniel, a Weather Elemental.

The two share a passionate embrace or two but are interrupted. In order to explore each other fully, they'll have to find more comfortable accommodations.

When they do, things really get electric.

I wanted the series to flow as a whole but also for the books to be readable individually. If a reader picks up any book in The Written Word Series they'll get a great story and a fantastic romance. But it's best to read the books in order.

HH: How does Demons continue the series? Will there be more?

JW: Demons picks up where Witches and Silent Communication left off and takes a closer look at two minor players that have had smaller roles until this point: Bartley and Kendrick.

As a Demi God and a Shadow Demon, they are on opposite sides in the war that is about to happen. But they can't deny the attraction between themselves. They have no choice but to give in, even if it means giving away their hearts.

And yes, there will be more! Originally, I plotted out the series through to five books. I thought that would be the end. Happily, it doesn't look as if there is any end in sight. I have the plots of the books mapped out to book seven, so there's more in store!

HH: How did you go about creating the world this fascinating series takes place in?

JW: Well, I wanted a world that was modern with a dark edge. I wanted the magic to hide in plain sight but to be there should my characters reach through the veil.

I'm familiar with my hometown of Ottawa. I wanted something gritty and urban like Ottawa but with a bit more edge. So when I mapped it out, I wanted to create a town that was part Ottawa, part Toronto, part Montreal and Part New York. This way, the city would be neither Canadian or American.

I wanted it to be instantly familiar to everyone who walks amongst it's streets but also somewhere that they hadn't been before, if that makes any sense. I can only hope I've succeeded.

HH: What else do you have coming up for lucky readers?

JW: Well, quite a bit actually! It's been busy!

The first book in my new romantic trilogy, Tempting Darkness Book One: The Other, will be out on June 19th.

The Written Word Book Four: The Silence of Sound will be out in July or August. As well, Hope Falls, the second paranormal romance in The Hunted Series, is coming out in paperback

I think I need a vacation. So I can write more!

HH: What's your favorite part of the creative process in writing?

JW: I love solving the puzzle.

What I mean by this is taking the picture or idea I see in my head and putting it down on paper. It always starts with a picture or an idea.

Then trying to figure out what that image is about, what the character is doing, what the character wants to do.

I don't often plot my novels, so for me I always love to see what it's going to be about and what's going to happen. Quite often the ending is as surprising to me as it is to my readers!

I just love the discovery about it. There's no magic like it.

HH: What challenges do you face at this point in your career?

JW: Well, I'm actually finding it hard to write books other than romance.

I always like to do and write different things so that my writing in one genre doesn't get stale. I've currently finished an experimental fiction novel and want to start on the other idea I have.

But the only problem is that the romance keeps calling to me. Which I don't mind at all.

Mostly, the thing I find the most hard is writing. After I finish a novel, I always give myself a week off. Sometimes, though, that week stretches into two or three weeks. By that point, I get antsy.

I have to become more disciplined in my writing and remember to write a little every day. After all, it's a pleasure to do what I love. I should indulge more often.

HH: What are you reading now?

JW: I am reading the most lovely book. It's called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.

It's a novel told entirely in letters about a writer named Juliet Ashton. It takes place after the Second World War and begins when Juliet gets a letter from one of the founding members of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society that changes her life.

It's wonderful. I started it today and I'm already half way through. It's out in paperback, so pick this novel up. Part love story, part historic novel, it's one of the best I've read all year.

HH: What are your plans for the summer?

JW: Well I'm going to take a vacation! LOL

Seriously, I'm going to write The Written Word Book Five: Ghosts and Tempting Darkness Book Two: The Key. I'm also hoping to work on a non romantic novel I have brainstorming.

Either way, I'll keep busy with good words, good books and good people. A good glass of wine and sunshine never hurts either!

HH: Thank you!
