Which author has what it takes to be the first TRSStudio Diva?
This is a competition where authors are judged by romance readers in the areas of talent, ability to interact with romance readers, and ability to effectively market themselves and their books.
Competition begins on May 5, 2008 and will conclude on August 4, 2008. (Please note that TRS will be closed from June 2-6, 2008 and July 4-10, 2008). It will consist of ten rounds. Each round will give romance readers the opportunity to vote for their favorites. Each round, competitors with the least amount of votes will be eliminated. After the final round, one winner will be named the TRSStudio Diva.
Round 1 - First talent round: Thirty eight competing authors have submitted a 750-1000 word excerpt (actual word count) written exclusively for this competition, based on a scenario randomly selected from a pool submitted to us by romance readers. These excerpts are being presented anonymously to voters so the talent can be judged on its own merit. Authors who submit excerpts from published works or inform readers of the content of their submission will be disqualified.
Voting opens on Monday 5/5/08 and concludes on Friday 5/16/08 for round one. Competitors advancing to round two will be posted here when voting for that round begins on Monday, 5/19/08. The six authors with the fewest votes will not advance to round two.
Instructions: Participating authors are identified by a participant id known only to them and technical staff of TRS. Read each participant's excerpt in the left column. Decide on your favorite and cast your vote for it in the right column. One vote can be cast per unique ip address (i.e. computer) in this round. Winners will be selected from the voting emails to receive prizes from the participating authors, outside donating parties, and TRS.
SELECTED SCENE SUBMITTED BY A READER TO TRS: Character A is a quirky critic who's secretly attracted to Character B, an eccentric artist who lives in the apartment right above Character A. Character A is on a deadline to get his/her review finished but Character B is making a lot of noise and it's very distracting.
