Reviews for One Moment's Pleasure
"I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Allyn's historical novel. Her research about nineteenth century San Francisco was impeccable, her plotting strong, her pacing excellent, and her cast of characters vibrant. Dutch was an intriguing man, a beta hero with a tortured past, but with a fine spirit and good heart - and his penchant for chocolate was such a nice touch! Edith was a beautifully wrought heroine, strong-willed and brave, with an indomitable spirit. Ms. Allyn also has a gift for bringing her secondary characters to full flower; every one of them rang true, from the ever loyal servants, to the villainous madam. If you love a great adventure, you will love ONE MOMENT'S PLEASURE. I can't wait to read the sequel!" Five stars, Author Deborah ONeill Cordes
"One Moment's Pleasure is packed with intrigue, terrific historical detail and sizzling romance." USA Today Bestselling Author, Merline Lovelace

An Interview with Rue Allyn
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Rue, thank you for talking with us at TRS. You featured story is One Moment’s Pleasure. Where did you get the idea for this sizzling new story?
RA: Thank you for having me. I’m a huge fan of TRS and am honored to be doing this interview. Almost every story I write starts with ‘what if.’ In the case of the One Moment’s Pleasure and the Wildfire Love series, what if a man who detested prostitutes ended up marrying one? That became the initiating problem for Dutch Trahern. He quickly finds out that the female he thinks is a woman of ill-repute is definitely not. I also wanted to know how much a sister would risk to find a missing sibling. It turns out that Edith risks a great deal.
HH: What do you like about Edith and why will readers identify with her?
RA: I love Edith’s boldness and loyalty. She’s dedicated to finding her missing sister and makes great sacrifices to that end throughout her journey. I’m pretty certain that anyone with family will understand the kind of love that drives one sister to take care of another.
HH: What do you like about Dutch and why will readers love him?
RA: Dutch has been through so very much in his life. We can all identify with trouble in childhood and life, and we all have our individual coping mechanisms. Dutch eases stress with chocolate. Who couldn’t love a hero with a chocolate habit? But Dutch is more than a chocolate chewing, hunky hero. Dutch keeps his promises, even when it hurts. Fortunately for Dutch, keeping the difficult promises is rewarded with enduring love.
HH: Tell us about your journey to publishing this book?
RA: I’m not certain we have enough time and space for the entire story of how One Moment’s Pleasure got published. I started work on the story nearly ten years ago. I was employed outside the home, and for several years, I could devote very little time to writing. It wasn’t until I left my day job in 2010 that I could give the story the attention it needed. I queried several publishers over the next few years. In November of 2012, I received an offer from Crimson Romance Publishing. Crimson has a very short production schedule, so four months after accepting the offer, One Moment’s Pleasure was released. The acquiring editor liked One Moment’s Pleasure so much that when I mentioned in an e-mail I was developing stories for Edith’s sisters, she asked for both. I’m happy to say that book two, One Night’s Desire, will be released on July 15, 2013.
HH: What do you think readers will enjoy most about this romance?
RA: Hmm, characters, setting, plot twists, I’d have a hard time choosing. The story has great tension and some really heart melting moments.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
RA: I love the TRS release parties. When One Moment’s Pleasure released in March, I held a drawing for a Ghirardelli gift card in honor of the book’s San Francisco setting and Dutch’s chocolate habit. I’ll be dreaming up something special for the parties on June 27 and July 11 to celebrate the release of Hazard Duty ~ Sexy Sailors # 2 on July 1st and One Night’s Desire ~ Wildfire Love # 2 on July 15th. Since the number 2 is significant for both of these books, I’ll probably play off of that for my give away.
HH: What else can readers look forward to from you?
RA: I’ve already mentioned the next two books of the Wildfire Love series and my second Sexy Sailors [erotic romance] book, Hazard Duty. September will see the release of my contemporary romance, Deal of a Lifetime, and in November Samhain will re-issue my medieval romance, A True and Perfect Knight. That’s as far out as I have writing contracts. However, I’ve got several books in various stages, and I expect at least one of those to go to contract before November. Readers can check for updates or sign up for my very occasional newsletter at my website, http://RueAllyn.com.
HH: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of your writing?
RA: You mean there’s life outside of writing?J I love to travel. I get a lot of inspiration from my journeys. A trip to Yellowstone National Park inspired the setting for One Night’s Desire.
HH: What's your favorite quote ever?
RA: “An opportunity is a miracle waiting to happen.” I’d love to know if anyone out there can identify the source. I’ll give a hint and say that the author of this quote is very close to me.
HH: What's your favorite social media and how do you use it to let readers know about your books?
RA: I’m tech challenged and very media shy. I’m moderately active, posting announcements and the occasional wisecrack at the following urls.
HH: Thank you!
