Leah didn't expect to enjoy the comfort Sawyer's familiarity brings, even as his touch takes her to unimaginable heights of pleasure. When bad news from home sends him reeling, she's more than prepared to offer him anything he needs: her body, her friendship. Even her heart—if Sawyer can loosen the reins over his own to accept her love.

About Mari Carr
Writing a book was number one on Mari’s bucket list and on her thirty-fourth birthday, she set out to see that goal achieved. Now her computer is jammed full of stories — novels, novellas, short stories and dead-ends. A New York Times and USA Today bestseller as well as winner of the Passionate Plume, Mari found time for writing by squeezing it into the hours between 3 a.m. and daybreak when her family is asleep and the house is quiet.

An Interview with Mari Carr
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Mari, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Western Ties and its part of your Compass Brothers series. First, what can you tell us about this fascinating new series?
MC: Western Ties is the final book in the Compass Brothers series. I have so many emotions wrapped up in this story and the series it's hard to nail them all down. While I'm terribly sad to see my writing collaboration with Jayne Rylon end (love her!), I'm so proud of what we were able to create together. I know this series will always hold a special place in my heart because the third book, Eastern Ambitions, helped me achieve a lifelong dream. In November it hit the New York Times bestseller list. Sometimes I still find that amazing moment hard to believe. When my editor called to say the book had hit the list, I crumpled on the stairs and cried tears of sheer joy. It was truly one of the best nights of my life.
HH: How do the first three books kick off the series?
MC: The series tells about the lives and loves of the four Compton brothers, who all believed their pastures would be greener away from Wyoming and the family ranch. As each of them turn 18, they take off to see the world. A decade passes and they begin to realize home may really be where the heart is. When they learn their father is dying, each of them come home. And along the way...they find true love...and have really hot sex. LOL
HH: How does Western Ties continue it?
MC: Western Ties actually concludes it. The story line involving their father, JD, is resolved and the youngest Compton brother, Sawyer, finds his happy ending.
HH: What do you like best about Leah and Sawyer and why will readers love them?
MC: I'm a huge fan of friends to lovers stories. I think the strongest and best relationships are born from friendship. Sawyer had always been there for Leah and vice versa. As Sawyer faces some of the toughest days of his life, he realizes exactly how much Leah has come to mean to him and how very precious life is. If there's a moral to the story, it's to live each day as if it were your last.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
MC: Oh...I have lots of irons in the fire right now and I love it! On March 20, Screwdriver, book two in the Cocktales series, releases. This story is the second of four books about girlfriends who open a business together. They are light-hearted, funny, red hots books and I've had a blast writing them. Party Naked, the first book, is available now and the final two, Bachelor's Bait and Screaming Orgasm should release later this year. I also have a new story coming out at Samhain in late May called Because It's True. It's the final book in my Just Because trilogy (Because of You and Because You Love Me are available now). The book is a complete departure for me from the norm because it's a my very first attempt at m/m. And finally, I'm starting a second collaborative project. This time I'm co-writing a duo of romantic comedies with Lexxie Couper. Misplaced Princess and Misplaced Cowboy should arrive at Ellora's Cave sometime this year.
HH: What goals have you set for yourself at this point in your career?
MC: Right now, I'm simply trying to strike a better balance in my life...in regards to everything...family, diet, exercise, writing. I tend to be an all-in girl when I start a project, letting other things fall to the wayside. I'm trying very hard to juggle everything better. As far as true writing goals, I'm constantly trying to set the bar higher, to try different genres, different story lengths, collaborations with others.
HH: What sources of inspiration do you draw from for ideas?
MC: Music is my big inspiration. I can't listen to it when I'm writing, but when I feel myself becoming blocked or I'm searching for a scene, I close my Word document, open up a game of Hearts on the computer, fire up the iTunes and let the music lead me there. It never fails.
HH: What's your favorite book so far in 2012?
MC: Oh man...do I have to choose one? I recently finished Rule of Three by Kelly Jamieson. Loved it! Finally managed to read Juniper Bell's Training the Receptionist. That book had been on my TBR list for a long time. Juniper did not disappoint. Yowza! Yum! I'm also halfway through Delphine Dryden's When in Rio. I can't put the damn thing down. You should see the dark circles under my eyes from last night's late night!
HH: What are you most looking forward to in 2012?
MC: Right now, I'm looking forward to attending the Romantic Times convention in Chicago in April. The conference is always fun, but this year will be extra special as 9 of the 12 International Heat ladies will be in attendance. These gals are my daily lifeline in the writing world and this is the first time so many of us will all be together in the same place. Look out Chicago! I hate to wish my life away, but bring on April!
HH: Thank you!
