| Prince Seren Di Lakai Telosa to be exact, heir apparent to the Demon throne. And a hunted man. If his father’s men find him, he’ll be dragged back to court to die of boredom. For the last three hundred years they’ve been grooming him to take over from dear old daddy. The only trouble is – the stubborn old git could last at least another millennia.
So what’s a Demon Prince to do? Get a job at Moonlight & Magic of course and keep his head down. Unfortunately Tiny was never good at avoiding trouble and when delicate Vampiress Cassia storms into his life, Tiny finds himself tempted to break more than his personal rules...
Demonkind and the undead don’t mix well, or rather, they mix too well, with explosive results.
Reviews for Deception & Desire
"The sly humour and descriptive passages left me wanted the book to go on and on. In particular, the manner in which Tiny, Cassia and the world they inhabit were revealed with little tidbits of information along the way just made the story come to life. The dialogue flowed—in turns snarky, sultry and amusing—as did the plot, which was right for the length of the book without overshadowing the relationship between the hero and heroine. This is in many ways a fairly simple tale, but one told with good-humoured style and panache. That flair, along with the easy way we are drawn into the character’s world, makes it a gem." "Be warned, the sex is explicit and extremely hot, and includes one scene with some exhibitionism but, in my opinion, was in keeping with the story and none of it gratuitous." - 5 Hearts, Moe, The Romance Studio
"This is a story you’ll enjoy in one sitting, and you’ll have a helluva good time in the process! This is the first in the Moonlight and Magic series I’ve read, but it certainly won’t be the last. Mina Carter has an incredible imagination, and I can’t to see what else she has in store. Be sure to put Deception and Desire on your TBR list." - 4 1/2 Cherries, Whipped Cream Reviews

About Mina Carter
Mina Carter can be found exploring in the middle of the English countryside with her real-life hero and their young daughter...the true boss of the family. Constantly seeking new challenges Mina never tires of learning new skills, counting Aromatherapy, Corsetry and welding amongst her abilities.
She juggles motherhood, working full time and writing, tossing another ball in the air with her work as a graphic artist and web designer. For her, writing time is the wee hours of the morning or any spare minute that can be begged, bought or conned.
Her first stories were penned at age 11, when she used a stationery set meant for Christmas 'thank you' letters to write stories instead. More recently, she wrote for her own amusement to save on outrageous monthly book bills, and to quell the demands of freinds for more and longer stories. Now you’ll find her reading and writing original worlds where the unusual is everyday and romance is a must.

An Interview with Mina Carter
By Holly Hewson for The Romance StudioHH: Mina, thank you for talking with us at TRS! Please tell us about your featured book, Deception and Desire. MC: No problem, thank you for having me :) *gets all settled* Well, where to start? Deception & Desire is the third in the Moonlight & Magic series, a set of stories all based loosely around the same paranormal club and it's staff. In Deception we follow the story of one of the demon bouncers, Tiny, and what happens when he meets a hot lady Vampire. Of course, in the best tradition of things...not only are vamps and demons arch-enemies but these two not only hit it off but also end up bonded to each other. A total no-go in their world. Then throw in some secrets and a tyrannical demon king and you're all set ;)
HH: This story is part of your Moonlight and Magic series. Where did the idea for the series come from? MC: To be honest it very much developed as it went along. The first book, Moonlight & Magic (http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=1080), was a story I'd had kicking around in my head for a while. Finally the characters bugged me enough that I wrote it. Then it snowballed from there. More characters arrived and demanded stories :S
I've always been fascinated by paranormal stories, particuarly ones where our world and the world of the paranormal run hand in hand. The ultimate game of 'what if'. All my characters are ones I can imagine drinking or clubbing in my local area...sort of like the film 'Snatch' crossed with Lord of the Rings (No, I never made *any* claim to sanity ;) ). That's what I see, so that's what I write.
HH: What can you tell us about the first two books in the series? MC: Moonlight & Magic kicks off the series and is the story of the twin Incubus who run the club (of the same name) and what happens when they meet part-fae Sage, who is destined to be their mate. It's a short, spicy little menage which sets the scene for the rest of the series.
Sunlight & Slavery (http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=1163) follows the story of Knuckles, the head of the security team and the club's resident gargoyle. A beauty and the beast story, Knuckles finds his beauty when he rescues Neri from her crimelord ex's henchman in an alley. What he doesn't expect is for Neri to rescue him back when all seems lost.
HH: How does Deception and Desire continue the series and will there be more? MC: Deception and Desir (http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=1239) introduces more of the staff of the club along with Tiny and Cassia, and also introduces us to the demonic courts and their king Lakai, who may be appearing in a later story. And yes, there will be more stories. Currently the series has one free story, Pixies & Passion (http://www.scribd.com/doc/24383173/Pixies-Passion), and I'm soon to start working on the fifth story in the series, Witchcraft & Wolves.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers? MC: Ohh, plenty of stories coming up. I have a new series out with Changeling Press, entitled Wicked Wraiths (http://www.changelingpress.com/catalog.php?upt=book&ufilter=series&sid=252), which I'm working on at the moment and some longer stories also in the pipeline. Currently I'm editing a number of stories for release, the first being a co-authored sci-fi romance called 'Knight's Woman' due out soon with Liquid Silver Books, the second Wraith book with Changeling called 'Man about the House' and a last with Changeling, also co-authored, called 'Dragonsgold'.
HH: What's the most important thing you've learned in your writing career since you first published? MC: Never give up. I started writing a long time ago and I got badly burned in an online writers group. It stopped me writing 'seriously' for many years. I did continue to write but in RPG's with friends. The little niggle never went away though and finally I wrote something and submitted it to Nocturne Bites. It was rejected but by that time I'd gotten the bug. My second story was submitted and accepted before I got the first rejection. My philosophy now is 'write-submit-rewrite-resubmit' then repeat as many times as necessary. My mother always did say I was a stubborn as a terrier though!
HH: What accomplishment are you most proud of? MC: Hmm, that's a hard one. I'm proud of each and every story I put out, they're like my babies in a way. I'm proud of my writing group and when any of us get a contract or put a release out. The thing that makes me most proud though is getting emails from readers saying my stories touched them or helped them in some way. That has to be the best thing of all.
HH: As an author, how do you meet all of the demands of the industry and the readers and stay sane? MC: Hmm, sane? *panics* No one told me that was a requirement!! LOL
I don't sleep much in all honesty. I write with people in different timezones from myself which requires being up at odd times to get some words down or when writing solo, I like the house to be quiet so that means when everyone's asleep. My freinds are all as batty as I am but it helps having people to run to to ask all the bizarre questions writers have at times. Ie - help! In 'this' position, where the hell does 'that' leg go? Or my personal favourite, forgetting how to spell 'and' (I'm not kidding, it's written in permanent marker on the bottom of my laptop screen!)
HH: What are you reading right now? MC: Right now I'm reading Cynnara Tregarth’s 'Cupid Shoots, She Scores' (http://www.loose-id.com/Cupid-Shoots-She-Scores.aspx) and Selena Illyria's 'Dog Sled' (http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=1373)
HH: Any big plans for the summer? MC: We've just moved house so not really. At the moment we're just settling in where we are and getting used to the place. It's more in the country than we were before and we have a wood in front of us so most of the summer I think will be spent relaxing in the garden and watching the resident squirrels.
HH: Thank you!
