Reviews for Something New
"This book is definitely a must read. A great example of what a true romance novel is all about. I love the different journeys the characters go through and how they triumph...together. I can't wait to read more from this author." Jamila (posted on Amazon.com)
"I agree with the other reviewers, this was a very sweet romance. This is another well written book with just the right amount of suspense to keep you from putting it down. Blue Roses is the sequel but I am hoping that the other characters will get their own story. This book keeps you wanting more because the characters appear real. Pick it up and read it and grab the sequel too you will not be disappointed!! "Ms. Jai (posted on Amazon.com)

An Interview with Sharon C. Cooper

HH: Thank you for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Something New. Where did you get the idea for this emotionally-engaging story?
SC: Hmm...good question! My initial idea came when I either heard or read something about women asking men to marry them. Personally, I thought the concept was kind of cool, and decided to play around with the idea. In Something New, the main character, Simone asks her longtime boyfriend to marry her and he turns her down. Since I'm sure she's not the only woman who has asked a man to marry her and be turned down, I wanted to create a story of a woman moving past that heartbreak and eventually finding her happily-ever-after. There are several themes addressed in Something New that all readers will be able to relate to -- betrayal, forgiveness, dating a "friend", and even family dynamics.
HH: What do you like best about Simone and why do you think readers will relate to her?
SC: Simone is brilliant when it comes to business, but a little quirky as it relates to her personal life. Readers will like her because she endures things or finds herself in various situations throughout the story that so many of us have experienced or will experience in our lifetime.
HH: What do you like best about Tim and why will readers love him?
SC: I think what I like most about Tim and what readers will love about him is that he is a genuinely nice guy, with a little bad-boy in him. Lol! He's gorgeous, intelligent, and not afraid to go after what he wants.
HH: What makes your characters unique?
SC: The characters in this story are unique because they are multi-dimensional. Something New is much more than a story about boy meets girl, fall in love and then live happily-ever-after. Both main characters have battled for love and lost prior to meeting, and throughout the story we journey with them as they make peace with their past in order to find that happily-ever-after with each other.
HH: What makes your story stand out amongst fierce competition?
SC: Something New has something for everyone. It touches on so many issues that we've all experienced from learning to forgive, to that first kiss with Mr. Right. It's definitely a feel good book laced with love, drama and even a few laughs.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
SC: I have two projects coming soon (2012): a short story entitled, "Secret Rendezvous". This story is the prequel to my next novel, Rendezvous with Danger, which is the second book in my Reunited Series. It's scheduled for release at the end of this year. Also, my latest novel, Blue Roses, was released in July 2012. And for those who enjoy short stories, check out "Best Woman for the Job", it's the prequel to my Jenkins Family Series coming in 2013. Readers can get first hand information, and excerpts by checking out my website at www.sharoncooper.net.
HH: How long have you been a writer and what keeps you writing?
SC: I've only been writing seriously for the last four years. Interesting enough, I think my love for reading ignites my desire to keep writing -- and the fact that I seem to always have a story floating around in my head doesn't hurt. So trust me, there will definitely be many more books to come!
HH: What goals have you set for yourself at this point in your career?
SC: My ultimate goal is to release at least three books a year. That's pretty ambitious, but I enjoy writing and connecting with readers. As a reader myself, I love it when my favorite authors pump out more than one book a year -- keeps me wanting more. So I want it to be like that for my readers. I don't want them to have to wait years for my next book.
HH: What do you enjoy reading?
SC: I mostly enjoy reading romantic suspense and contemporary romance. I like romance novels that have substance and multi-dimensional characters who I can relate to.
HH: What are you most looking forward to before the year's end?
SC: I'm looking forward to building my readership and connecting more with readers. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting individuals who have enjoyed my work, asked questions about my characters, and those who are anxiously awaiting more stories by me. It's been SO much fun and the readers have been awesome!
HH: Thank you!
