Ela Montahue is a talented sorceress descended from Boadicea, the legendary warrior queen of the Iceni tribe. She has the miraculous power to heal but, years before her birth, Boadicea issued a decree that Ela must marry for love not political practicality, or she will forfeit her supernatural power. Marrying Lord Thomas de Havel, the vile landowner with connections to King John's court, would benefit Ela's family tremendously, but would strip her of her miraculous gift. When Ela refuses the repulsive marriage proposal of Lord de Havel, he abducts her and wages battle against her father in retaliation. Knight Osbert Edyvean, who has been paid to find Boadicea's spear, rescues Ela instead and must fight his overwhelming passion for a beautiful lady he wants to protect and love.

An Interview with Traci Hall
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Traci, thank you for talking with us at TRS! Please tell us about your featured book, Boadicea's Legacy.

TH: Boadicea's Legacy is the third book in my Boadicea series and stars the youngest montehue daughter, Ela. Like her two older sisters, she is not expected to marry for anything other than love or she risks, according to family legend, losing her magical ability to heal. Unlike her sisters, she's willing to make a trade to andraste, the ancient British goddess - her gifts for a release of the curse for the rest of the family. Unfortunately, her moonlit, skyclad plea is witnessed by a knight searching for boadicea's spear, on behalf of the Earl of Norfolk. Godly Osbert Edyvean doesn't know what to make of what he's seen - witchcraft is a sin, after all, and he fights his desires as well as his unbidden respect throughout the story. These two had me laughing while i was writing, because os would just get so indignant over her behavior - and yet he was so in awe of Ela's skills that he couldn't stop falling in love.

HH: Where did the idea for this very special paranormal/medieval series come from?

TH: I wanted to write what I loved to read - Amanda Quick, Johanna Lindsey, Catherine Coulter - they all wrote fun, spunky heroines with great heroes, and I loved the medieval time period, so (after much trial and error, lololol) the first book was born. While researching that time period, I came across references to boadicea and I tied the Roman era to the Medieval one. Research is a fun and dangerous thing!

HH: What can you tell us about the other books in the series?

TH: Love's Magic is the first book in the series, and is about the oldest daughter, Celestia. As family legend dictates, she can heal - but instead of being red-haired, green-eyed and tall, she is blonde, odd-eyed and short. She's determined to get around the family curse by refusing to marry anyone at all - until she's forced by the montehue's liege, who breaks his oath - sort of on behalf of his bastard son nicholas who was deeply injured while on crusade. The second book is beauty's curse and is about galiana and rourke. Galiana is all things beautiful - tall, red-haired, green-eyed, but she can't heal. She feels she has nothing to offer her family so she is willing to fall on the sword and marry for money - until she accidentally blinds rourke, a spy for many kings who must find the magical breath of merlin - a stone that can create a king - before it falls in the wrong hands. He can't see her beauty, but is felled instead by her grace and spirit

HH: Which was your favorite story to tell and why?

TH: Each one is my favorite at the time, lol.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

TH: The Queen's Garden is a new series I have out with Medallion Press in 2012, about queen eleanor and her female spies.

HH: What do you think today's readers are looking for and how do you fill that demand in your writing?

TH: I think readers want to fall into a story that will let them escape for a few hours - I hope to be satisfying that role for a long while. =)

HH: What you most like to accomplish in your writing career?

TH: Continuing good fortune - and maybe a new car, lol.

HH: What makes it all worth it to you as an author?

TH: Fan mail!!!!! Love it.

HH: What are you reading right now?

TH: An oldie but goodie series by Mary Stewart - The Crystal Cave.

HH: Any big plans for the summer?

TH: I just finished a deadline so I must, must must clean the house. I think we lost a dog somewhere...

HH: Thank you!
