About Jamie Hill
Jamie Hill was born and raised in a beautiful, mid-sized town in Midwest, USA. At various times she wanted to be a veterinarian, teacher, cheerleader, TV star or a famous singer. The one thing she always wanted to be was a writer. Starting at about age ten, she penned romance as she envisioned it in one spiral notebook after another.
When she's not working at the day job she loves, Jamie enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching movies (the scarier the better!) In her ‘spare time’ she can often be found writing, editing, or doing something more mundane like housework. After that, she's probably taking a nap. She loves to hear from readers, so feel free to drop her a line.

An Interview with Jamie Hill
By Holly Hewson for The Romance StudioHH: Jamie, thank you for talking with us at TRS! Please tell us about your featured book, Family Secrets. JH: Thanks for having me! Family Secrets was the fourth or fifth book I'd written, but the first to get a publishing contract. One of the others I rewrote into a fine novella, but the others remain in my slush pile. LOL
HH: A dead homeless man, two fatherless kids, and one beautiful woman. Your hero's plate is pretty full. Where did you get the idea for this amazing story? JH: The idea came to me one night as I tossed and turned. I even came up with character names. I'd been wanting to try the romantic suspense genre for awhile. I discovered it's a lot of work making sure there's a good balance of romance and mystery, but I love the challenge!
HH: What do you like best about Crystal and how do you relate to her? JH: Crystal never gives up. She has hopes and dreams for the future, and can actually see them happening. Sometimes she feels low, but that's realistic for a single woman. I tried to write her strong yet somewhat vulnerable. I like a woman who enjoys a man but doesn't need one!
HH: What do you like best about Jack and why might he be perfect for her? JH: Jack's my hero, even to this day. Whenever I'm asked who my favorite male character is, I always go back to Jack. I've found most of my characters since him tend to have a little of Jack in them. Dark, shaggy hair, three-day beard growth, strong, funny, slightly sarcastic, sexy, and knows how to treat a woman. What's not to love?
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers? JH: The second book in the series, Family Ties, has been slow to finish, but it's coming. I love Brady's story, but he's fighting me to finish it. I know it'll be good when I do, though. *grin* Readers can catch the first chapter of Family Ties in the back of the Family Secrets book right now.
HH: What do you think today's readers are looking for and how do you fill that demand in your writing? JH: Fortunately, there are as many tastes in reading as there are authors. I write what I love, and hope it connects with readers who love the same thing. Romance with a suspenseful plot. Nothing so heavy that readers can't keep track of all the players and events, but enough to keep people guessing.
HH: What would you most like to accomplish in your writing career? JH: I've already accomplished what I set out to do. Get a book (or several!) published, get some great reviews, and make some sales. I've gotten email from readers who enjoyed my writing and had to let me know, and that's amazing. I've held a print book with my name on it in my hands, and seen it on a bookshelf in a bookstore. Another amazing feeling. Of course, like every author who started writing at the age of ten on notebook paper, I'd love to make the New York Times Bestseller List. But it's okay if I never do. I've been part of the e-publishing world for five years now, and I've seen tremendous growth in the market. Just today I read where sales of e-readers are expected to go through the roof once prices come down a bit. It's been fun and fantastic to be part of this upward digital trend.
HH: What makes it all worth it to you as an author? JH: Hearing from readers is about as good as it gets. A great review is lovely, but I've had some stinkers, too, and I know they can be subjective. Not all readers will enjoy my writing, but when someone does and takes the time to let me know, it's wonderful!
HH: What are you reading right now? JH: The back of a cereal box. I wish I had time to read more.
HH: Any big plans for the summer? JH: This year has been rocky with lots of family issues, so I'm looking forward to a quiet summer relaxing and enjoying my loved ones. Next year my husband and I will celebrate 30 years of marriage, and I'm cooking up a really fun trip to celebrate that!
Thanks again for having me, Holly, and all the great staff at TRS. I hope readers who'd like more information will check out my website, blog, or sign up for my mailing list. Have a great summer everyone!
HH: Thank you! And congratulations. <g>
