Erin Nicholas

To be a good bad boy you have to find just the right girl...

Jessica Bradford is affectionately known as the Little General in the emergency department at St. Anthony's hospital. She's the best ER nurse they have and runs things with a perfection some envy, but it wasn't always that way. There was a time when "rebellious" was her middle name. But when her father took a bullet for her, leaving her the sole guardian of her two younger siblings, Jessica decided to go straight. She's been successfully resisting temptation ever since.

Until Dr. Ben Torres comes along. She's drawn to the trauma surgeon who literally puts people's lives back together. He's everything she's convinced she wants: responsible, dedicated, selfless. The tall, dark and handsome bit is just icing on the cake.

Ben's kept his distance, knowing they couldn't mix business with pleasure. Until he finally decides he's done playing the good guy. What's being a trauma surgeon ever gotten him but late hours, patients who don't remember his name and a whole lot of frustration? His sudden suspension ensures that work is no longer an issue. Now he can teach Jessica all the things good girls should never know.

Little does Ben know, Jessica could teach him more than a thing or two about being bad. Jessica can't believe Ben is acting more like a kid in a candy store than a man who's about to throw his career away. When she's manipulated into babysitting him, she does her best to keep him out of trouble-except trouble is all Ben's interested in. And suddenly Jessica's having trouble remembering why that's a bad thing…

Warning: Contains hot love in a store dressing room and in the front seat of a car-at the expense of a very nice strawberry patch, unfortunately-oh, and hooker boots. Can't forget the hooker boots.

An Interview with Erin Nicholas
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: Erin, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Please tell us about your featured book, Just Right.

EN: My pleasure! I love talking about this book!

HH: A surgeon whose career is on the line and the best ER nurse assigned to keep an eye on him. Where did you get the idea for their sizzling story?

EN: I love situations where people do the unexpected and act out of character, shaking everything up. I was thinking about what would happen if a physician just finally lost it on a patient who kept doing stupid things and endangering other people. Ben is just the guy to finally get fed up and react. The consequences of his actions lead to him being suspended from work and needing a 'babysitter'. Jessica is the perfect choice-not only is she a rule-follower, she's the only person Ben's really interested in spending time with. He'd prefer it to be naked time, of course, but he's willing to compromise… for awhile!

HH: What do you like best about Jessica and how do you relate to her?

EN: Jessica tries so hard to always do the right thing. Most of the time she's pretty confident in that, but she has moments of doubt. I can so relate to that! I also like routines and rules. That doesn't make me sound like a very fun person but, well, it's true. I like things to go according to plan! =) What I like about her is that she's come to be like this because of a very interesting, challenging past. She's faced some pretty tough stuff and has risen up. I admire that in anyone!

HH: What do you like about Ben and why might he be perfect for her?

EN: Well, Ben's this guy who has it all. He's handsome, sexy, confident, intelligent, compassionate… Ben is exactly the type of guy Jessica is convinced she should be with. He's a well-respected surgeon who literally saves lives every day. Heck, he even grew up the son of missionaries and lived and worked in Africa for three years. (Sounds too good to be true, doesn't he?) For a woman who is trying to be a good girl (after a not-so-good-but-really-fun past!), he's perfect. But, in spite of Jessica's initial opinion to the contrary, Ben is actually perfect for her because he makes her let go of her constant need for control. He makes her have fun and he appreciates everything about her-the take-charge-bossy nurse and the sexy, fun-loving party girl he discovers.

HH: What sort of research, if any, did you do for this story?

EN: Ben and Jessica are a part of the team in a busy hospital emergency department, so I definitely did research about emergency procedures, terminology, conditions commonly seen in the ER, etc. Also had to look up some details about the game of pool (I've played, but I'm no good…) and then there was the shopping and online perusing of lingerie and adult toy shops! Hey, I'm nothing if not thorough! =)

HH: What else do you have coming for lucky readers?

EN: Just Right is the start of a three book series. Readers will meet Sam and Sara, Jessica's brother and sister in Just Right. Then Sam's story, Just Like That will be out in June and Just My Type, with Sara will be out in September!

HH: What's your writing time like?

EN: I do most of my heavy writing on the weekends. Occasionally I sneak a few hours at the coffee shop during the week. I also try to write in the evenings while my kids study or while we all watch Phineas and Ferb together! =) But so many other things compete for my time and attention some days are not very productive at all! The best writing times are when I haven't been able to give it a lot of time for a couple of days and ideas are churning and I can't wait to sit down with them. Then I get (or make) the time and things just spill out.

HH: What do you consider a successful writing day?

EN: Depends on my mood. Sometimes I'm happy just to get a character fleshed out or a chapter plotted. Other days I'd be frustrated that's all I got done! =) I don't give myself word counts or page counts. That just doesn't work for me. I just do as much as I can every day, which is sometimes two pages and sometimes twenty. The most satisfying writing is when I'm writing the first draft, the characters have been with me for awhile so I know them well, and every time I stop I can't wait to get back to it and I know exactly where we're going next. Love that!

HH: Do you enjoy hearing from fans?

EN: Love it! Of course, it's always nice to hear someone likes something you've created! I'm actually quite humbled whenever someone tells me they like my work. This is my second book so I'm really eager to hear what people think of this book!

HH: What's the best fan letter/email/interaction you've ever had?

EN: I think it was when I was doing a chat with some other writers and referenced my book No Matter What. A participant had read it and piped up with all kinds of nice things. It was a great surprise and fun to be able to really chat with someone who had read it.

Thanks so much for having me! Always fun to be here!

HH: Thank you!
