About P.L. Parker
I am a mother to three grown sons, a grandmother to my darling four year old granddaughter, married to my best friend and soul mate. My novels, Fiona, Riley's Journey and the sequel, Into the Savage Dawn, Aimee's Locket and Heart of the Sorcerer are all time travel romances. Absolution is a step out of my comfort zone but deals with a sort of reverse time travel/vampires. I am currently working on a SciFi romance, again stepping out of my comfort zone.

An Interview with P.L. Parker
By Holly Hewson for The Romance StudioHH: PL, thank you so much for talking with us. Your featured book is Absolution. Where did the idea for this very unique vampire legend originate? PL: My husband, who is also my very best fan, suggested I try writing a vampire story -- the concept of the good versus the bad vampires. But how to make my story different? What about a vampire who didn't know she was a vampire, so protected and cared for by her family, the need to hunt never arises?
HH: What do you like about Chloe and why will readers identify with this fascinating character? PL: Though Chloe is a half-vampire, she's never hurt another soul. She's an innocent, without sin. She has no idea she is what she is. When her father can no longer protect her, he entombs her, hoping someone in the future will find a cure. Chloe survives entombment for 600 years only to be thrust into the present unprepared and out of place. Her only protectors are Earl and Benny, more hindrance than help for the most part, but she cares for them and they her. Realizing they can't protect Chloe, Earl and Benny, along with Shanna, Benny's cousin, take it upon themselves to teach the fledgling the workings of the vampire.
HH: What do you like about Zaccarius and Jochad? Why will readers be drawn to each of these men? PL: Zaccarius is a slayer for the good vampires -- the High Council of Nine. He is tired, weary of rendering judgment and is ready to seek the sun. He is sent out to determine Chloe's worth, and if necessary, to render justice. When he finds her, he realizes Chloe's mind is too pure to belong to an evil one, so instead of justice, he chooses to protects her.
Jochad, on the other hand, is the epitome of pure evil. He is a Dark Master, old, malevolent and pitiless. He believes Chloe's blood is the key to his eternity and he will stop at nothing to possess her. To his thinking, humans are merely cattle to be slaughtered.
HH: What sort of research did you do for this work? PL: I spent a lot of time researching the late 1300's and early 1400's, where the beginnings of my story take place. My research included who was in power in England and in France during that time, what wars were being fought, the language differences and the fashions. At the time of my story, the Hundred Years War was at issue and I used that reference in my story along with short snippets about Chloe being introduced to the Queen but being too young to appear at Court.
HH: What else do you have in the works? PL: I am in the final editing process of a SciFi manuscript. I am having a great time with this one and I hope to have it ready to begin submitting within a short time. Sort of a Westward the Women only into the stars.
HH: With the rising popularity of ebook readers and devices like the iPad, what changes do you see coming in the romance genre? PL: More of everything for everyone! I still believe there is nothing like a good book in hand, but I do have an e-reader myself and I love nothing more than loading up my e-reader before I leave. So convenient!
HH: As a romance reader, what sort of stories do you personally prefer? PL: Paranormal romance. I read almost exclusively paranormal. I guess that is why I chose that genre for myself when I began writing. So many ways to make believe.
HH: What do you do when you get stuck in a story? PL: I fill up the bathtub with lots of hot water, settle in and relax, and for some reason, my mind clears and I can get around the block. Talking to my husband is a great source of inspiration as well. He is very creative, just not willing to put it down on paper.
HH: Tell us about the best fan mail (email) you've ever gotten. PL: Actually, I've received quite a few and a good portion of them pertain to my novel, Riley's Journey. I received so many wonderful comments and requests to write a sequel, that I did just that, and Into the Savage Dawn came into being. I love hearing from my fans. Reaffirms me.
HH: What are your favorite hobbies/activities these days? PL: I enjoy gardening when I have the time but it has been so cold in Idaho this spring, I haven't made it out yet. I hope to get started soon. Reading is my very favorite hobby. I read two and sometimes three books per week along with working full time and writing. Family isn't a hobby, but I like nothing more than spending time with my extended family.
Thanks to everyone at The Romance Studio for including me. Patsy
HH: Thank you!
