I live in the Hill Country of Texas where most of my hunky cowboys and other alpha males come from. My real love is Texas, so it's where many of my stories are set.
I've had a lot of firsts in my life - first female sports report on The Michigan Daily at the University of Michigan; first woman to own a rock and roll agency in Detroit, the home of Motown; first woman president of the Pasco (Florida) Economic Development Council.
My background is so varied it's given me a lot of experiences to choose from when plotting my stories. I've been an insurance agent, newspaper reporter for weekly newspapers, a public relations and special events coordinator, manager of rock and Top 40 bands, worked for both a public and private university including vice president for public relations), chaired regional economic development councils and served on several political campaign committees.
Several of my books have received Reviewers choice and Top Pick Awards.

An Interview with Judith Rochelle

HH: Judith, thank you for talking with us at TRS! Please tell us about your featured book, Target. This is the first book in The Protectors series. Where did the idea for the series come from?
JR: I’ve always been big on law enforcement, military, ex-military and security as professions for my heroes. It just seems so right for the Alpha males I love. When I wrote Target I had the hero already dancing around in my head. I just needed to find the right venue for him. And as the story unfolded, there had to be a good place for his help to come from. Then those characters came to life for me.
HH: How does Target kick it off?
JR: Quinn, my dark mysterious hero, discovers Kate, my heroine, in trouble on the side of the highway. And what big trouble she has. A high powered drug cartel is after her. To help protect her, Quinn calls on his friends at Guardian Security, most particularly Nick Vanetta, whose story just popped up into my head.
HH: What can you tell us about the stories to come in this series? <g>
JR: Well…The next story, Boomerang, will be out this summer, and revolves around Zak Delaney, one of Guardian’s partners, and Katya Lombardi, the woman he’s always loved, and the Russian mob. Echoes, Book Three, is Nick Vanetta and Alexis Craig’s story, Nick being one of Guardian’s partners. It deals with danger form the past, echoes that haunt Alexis and her need to find answers. Book Four, Whiplash, belongs to Reno Sullivan, the third Guardian partner, and Sarah Macneill, whose past comes back to put her in a danger she didn’t even know was there. Echoes is in final galleys and Whiplash is still in process.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
JR: I am hoping later this year to get to Double Deception, Book Three in The Scorpio Team, and of course I will continue on with The Phoenix Agency series which has been a huige success for me. I love all those alpha men who are still putty in the hands of the strong, feisty women they love. I am far from done with them.
HH: WWhat's the most important thing you've learned in your writing career since you first published?
JR: Work hard and work often and make sure my characters will draw in the reader. And of course, to treat my readers like gold because without them I’d be nowhere. I love them all.
HH: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
JR: I think having some of my books tagged as Reviewers Choice or Recommended Read. Those aren’t given out lightly and I treasure them.
HH: As an author, how do you meet all of the demands of the industry and the readers and stay sane?
JR: Sane? Sane? I don’t think I’ve ever been sane! LOL! But I do have a great sense of humor!
HH: What are you reading right now?
JR: Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts. I’m working on a paranormal and an erotic romance so I always try to read out of my genre.
HH: Any big plans for the summer?
JR: I’ll be going to Lori foster’s Readers and authors Get Together in June and in July my older daughter will be visiting and then she and my younger daughter, my granddaughter and I are going to take some kind of fun road trip. And of course, plotting and writing!!!!!!
