The Network also fears that a rival terrorist faction will target Dr. Mansfield, wanting to use her unusual gift for evil the same way her husband's group does. Network operatives-and former secret lovers-Noah Harlow and Rhiannon Murray must rescue Dr. Mansfield to keep the world at large from falling into jeopardy.

You Gotta Read (highest rating)! "After being captured, tortured and finally rescued four years ago, Rhiannon Murray decided she wanted more out of life and love than what her team leader Noah Harlow could give. Trying to break clean from her former lover, she requests transfer to another unit in the network. Noah sees to it all her requests are denied. As team leader, he's determined to make sure she's safe, but is there more than lust lying under his cool exterior? Can he truly give Rhiannon his heart? Dr. Sherry Mansfield amazing mental ability is being misused by her husband, the leader of a terrorist cell and coveted by an even more dangerous group, but when she used a young suicide bomber to deliver a plea for help, the Network send Rhiannon and Noah undercover into the heart of danger as married counselors for a troubled teen ranch. How long will they be able to fight their close quarters and their hearts? Having read a few of the Incognito Series by Mrs. Wiesner, I applaud her ability to keep up the suspense all the way through book ten. Noah and Rhiannon's story doesn't disappoint with non stop tension, steamy love scenes and subplots that make you say, "What? No way!" An absolute pleasure to read, I hope HYPNOTIZED won't be the last of this series." ~ Brynna Curry for You Gotta Read Reviews
5 Books! "Emotional investment and sympathy for the heroine grips and twists your heart as early as the opening scene in HYPNOTIZED, the tenth book in the Incognito Series by Karen Wiesner. Intermixed with a tale of suspense and intrigue is the very personable story of Rhiannon. True to the strength of character that Ms. Wiesner imbues her female agents with, Rhiannon is another woman who gets the job done while hiding the torment inside of her. Noah is a stubborn, over-protective, self-sacrificing professional who doesn't recognize love even when it's smacking him upside the head. Watching [the romantic torture] unfold is fascinating agony. The build-up of suspense during the tale kept me turning the pages because the villain is a stroke of genius. Dialogue is crisp, fast-moving and authentic-sounding. My adrenaline was pumping when the plot picked up speed and raced towards the exciting battle and its pivotal outcome. As I've come to expect, Ms. Wiesner's grasp of the perfect kind of HEA for each of her characters' personalities and situations is spot on. When finally Noah and Rhiannon overcome external and internal obstacles, it's satisfying and romantic. HYPNOTIZED kept me riveted, emotionally invested and entertained all the while expecting and getting a well-rounded, expertly told tale. It's adventure from the comfort of your couch." ~ Xeranthemum for LASR
5 Stars! "Karen Wiesner is a master at combining espionage and romance. Her stories in this series are part thriller and strong on the romance. The plot moves along at a swift pace. The suspense quickly builds to the climatic ending. Fans of romance, suspense, mystery and spies will enjoy this series." ~ Readers Favorite
4 1/2 Delightful Divas! "HYPNOTIZED by Karen Wiesner is the tenth book in the Incognito Series. I have read each and every book, and I have to tell you that they are all fantastic. They can be read as stand-alone titles, but why would you want to when you would miss out on so much? In this book, I got to know more about Rhiannon and Noah. I have met them in previous books, and theirs was a great story. Each of them have issues from their past, as most of the operatives do. As always, I am amazed by the sheer knowledge and cunning that the Network has. They have, once again, played chess master with this mission. I keep thinking that one of the operatives is going to get a one-up on this organization, but it never seems to happen just the way I think it will-which makes for an excellent book filled with suspense and adventure. If you have never read one of the Incognito Series books, then I highly recommend that you read them, but start with the first book, NO ORDINARY LOVE. I promise that you will not be disappointed! Karen Wiesner has once again created a complex, well-written plot, with realistic, well-developed characters. She is a master at writing, and I am always impressed by her obvious knowledge of the Network and the operatives. I may have read each book and be invested in the story and people involved, but never could I hold it together enough to create such an in-depth and thought-out book." ~ Melissa for Dark Diva Reviews
4 Cups! "Rhiannon is a woman with a tortured past, one that predates even her work within the Network. Noah had a loveless childhood with parents who did not coddle him, but did not show any affection either, which led him on a path similar to how he was raised. The twists and turns of this suspenseful novel grip the reader and will keep anyone guessing. The storyline kept me coming back for more and the action-packed ending was very fulfilling and definitely left me with a smile on my face." ~ Danielle for Coffee Time Romance & More
4 Stars! "Wiesner continues her Incognito Series with book 10, which focuses on Noah and Rhiannon, a couple with a complicated, passionate history. This story offers everything readers have come to expect from this series of late: intense relationships, emotionally charged situations and covert operations." ~ Barb Anderson for RT Book Reviews
"The sizzling sexual tension between operatives Rhiannon and Noah keeps the pressure up for the entire book, with a surprising sting at the end. The plot winds around and around with relationship ups and downs between the two main characters and the people they work with. Nice descriptions, good character building and great pace." ~ Sally Vanessa Hearne for Between the Lines Reviews
"The latest Incognito romantic suspense is a terrific, action-packed thriller starring two super protagonists. The irony of the assignment enhances the fast-paced plot as Rhiannon does the undercover masquerade job because she is a strong, dedicated individual; her preference [for a partner] would be anyone but the man she loves. Ironically, Noah, the brute, wants her but his values make it impossible for him to go after her as he feels that it is inappropriate for a superior officer to make love with a subordinate even if he cherishes her above his own life. All this passion is inside a strong rescue mission as Karen Wiesner provides her tenth Incognito winner." ~ Genre Go Round Reviews

An Interview with Karen Wiesner
By Holly Hewson for The Romance StudioHH: Karen, thank you for talking with us at TRS. Please tell us about your featured book, HYPNOTIZED. KW: Happy to be here! The heroine and hero of HYPNOTIZED, Book 10 of my Incognito Series, Rhiannon Murray and Noah Harlow, have made several appearances up to this point and readers finally learn Are they in love or aren't they? Also, I wanted to do something a little different with this book and give the Network a bit of a supernatural "case" to solve. The funny thing is, the telepathic angle of this story is based on truth, so the premise of this story is absolutely real. I just took the next step and turned that reality into an exciting suspense read.
HYPNOTIZED was a difficult book for me to write. I had a basic idea what I wanted to happen in Rhiannon and Noah's relationship. I admit, I struggled quite a bit with the plot for this book-I hadn't spent as much time brainstorming on it as previous books, and I couldn't seem to get a handle on the action for quite a few months of backtracking, seemingly endless researching, setting the story aside to brainstorm more until I finally worked the outline out. I had a few problems writing the book several months later, but basically I was pretty happy with it when I finished the first draft. Revision took place quite a few months after that time. I admit, after that big job was done, I was ecstatically pleased because I'd worried so much about whether I could pull off another winner if this award-winning series.
HH: What threads are woven through these stories to offer continuity to your readers -- who obviously love this series? <g> KW: Thanks. Whenever I go into writing another Incognito Series book, I have a couple ground rules for myself:
First, the most important aspect for me is that I want to remain true to the premise of the Network that I've held onto throughout the series, or, as the reviewer from Long and Short of It Reviews says, 'to cleverly write within the rules of this world, yet manage to spin it on its axis, taking the reader on a new journey.' http://longandshortreviews.blogspot.com/2008/11/undercover-angel.html
Next, I want to offer something totally new and unexpected with each book, yet I always want to achieve what a reviewer from Once Upon A Romance Review has said of the series: that I anticipate the reader's desires and am able to deliver the story she wants. http://www.onceuponaromance.net/NoOrdinaryLoveReview.html.
Both of these ground rules are crucial to me. With them both in mind, I decided to tread down a previously unexplored area in the series by introducing a paranormal element in HYPNOTIZED. My inspiration came from a true news report that I read on the internet: On December 3, 2007, a team of UC Irvine scientists was awarded a $4 million grant to study synthetic telepathy-communicating by thoughts instead of speech. Funded by the U.S. Army Research Office, the team worked with experts in automatic speech recognition and brain imaging at other universities to research a brain-computer interface that would use noninvasive brain imaging technology to let people communicate thoughts to each other. The idea for the plot of HYPNOTIZED was loosely based on these actual events. What happened after that point is, of course, where my imagination took over. I hope you enjoy this "supernatural" installment of the Incognito Series.
HH: This is part of your critically acclaimed Incognito Series, Karen. Where did the idea for the series itself come from? What can you tell us about the first nine books in this series? KW: I love all things series, so it's a very rare thing for me to write a single book that has no connection to others I've done. That was the case with the Incognito Series, which has won and/or finaled in FTHRW's Lories' Best Proposal and Best Publishing contests, the L-Edit Slip contest, EPIC's EPPIE Award, The Romance Studio's Sweetheart and CAPA Awards, Ecataromance's Reviewer's Choice Award, Fallen Angel Reviews' Recommended Read Award, The Long and Short of It's (LASR) Best Romance of the Year Award and their highest review rating-Best Book, Manic Readers' featured review status, and RT Book Reviews' Top Pick review award. The series has also received 5 star reviews from The Romance Studio, Fallen Angel Reviews, LASR, ReviewYourBook.com, Dark Diva Reviews, as well 4 1/2 stars from RT Book Reviews. Books 1-10 are now available.
Many years ago, I had an idea for a story that utterly intrigued me. What if a woman had only a handful of memories-vague and troubling ones of a dark, cold and wet night and gunshots-and she remembers nothing else before the age of five, before a certain man entered her life? Since that fateful night long ago, all Kira Gunn knows is her nightmares and this man, Vincent Carson, loving and keeping her sheltered from the world. What if this man had the answers to her past but wouldn't give them to her? What would compel him to do the things he's done to keep her previous life a secret? NO ORDINARY LOVE, Book 1, was born with that concept, and, once I wrote it, my Incognito Series was instantly spawned.
I love the concept of a covert government agency (mine is called the Network), one that requires an operative's identity in order to maintain anonymity. I also love the fact that these stories never have truly happy endings. Love is forbidden in the Network, and therefore operatives are risking their very lives by falling in love-whether with someone within the Network or someone without. As you can imagine, this makes for some pretty intense tension as my characters "love in the shadows."
Readers entered the Network with UNTIL DEATH DO US PART, Book 2, which was a blast to write. I combined Network operatives' Kirsten Ulrick and Ash Barnett undercover mission (and secret relationship) of protecting Raven Harris from her seemingly invisible enemy with Raven's broken marriage and the loss of her son. Romantic relationships between two Network operatives, or an operative and a civilian, are strictly forbidden by Network superiors. The consequence for an operative caught-a bullet in the brain.
BOUNTY ON THE REBEL'S HEART (Book 3) continued where UNTIL DEATH DO US PART left off with Raven Harris' journalism partner in hiding with evidence he uncovered on a dangerously corrupt man of power with connections to the Network. Network operative Natalie Francis goes undercover, posing as Reb's former lover, investigative journalist Adrienna Kelly. But Reb and Adrienna's relationship was nothing if not complicated. Add that Natalie is losing her heart to Reb and seriously considering escape from the Network, and you've got a story that's non-stop action.
With DEAD DROP (Book 4), again, I was intrigued with a compelling concept. The heroine, Perry L'Engle, is an FBI agent. She lost the man she loved years ago to what appeared to be an accident. Just before his death, he was approached for recruitment by a covert government agency. Now, 25 years later, Perry's son is approached by the same covert agency. Perry is determined to both find the man she loves-Network operative, Roan Emory, and to protect their son from the same fate.
With the 5th book in the series, UNDER THE SPELL, cowboys and spies set the scene for this sexy, fun, emotional novel about a Network operative, Justine Fielding, thrust back into her old life to discover who killed her rancher father and why. The last thing she expects it to confront the cowboy, Alex Lynch, she'd run from directly into the Network's arms as a teenager...a very man who may have murdered her father.
Next came RENEGADE'S ROSE (Book 6), in which the Network's operatives-Hunter Savage, "the most dangerous man in the world"-goes renegade to save his sister Celine who's been kidnapped by the leader of the Network's archenemy, R.E.D. The only way Hunter can save Celine is to kidnap the leader's wife...and the last thing he expects is to fall in love with her. This one has a twist that's so typical of the Network's chess-master abilities.
UNDERCOVER ANGEL, Book 7, is a particular favorite of mine. Shannon McKee has intrigued me from her very first appearance in the series. As the leader of the Network and a former Navy SEAL, she's a character I wanted to know more about, more about what made her tick and, of course, made her rule the Network with such an iron fist. I also wanted to know more about the only man she's ever loved. This book marks a turning point for Network operatives when Shannon realizes that what she's been forbidding her operatives is the very thing she needs to survive.
Book 8, HARD TO HANDLE, was the most difficult book I've ever written. My research into human trafficking was so disturbing, I lost more than a few nights' sleep over it and it still haunts me. This book is a graphic, though poignant, one with two operatives-Nova Granger and Dez Luttino-who take on this terrifying issue, and strike a blow for the innocent in the process. I think Nova's vulnerability and strength in this story is breathtakingly inspiring.
Angelo Pluzetti has been a key character in all the books in the series up to this point and he finally gets his own book in DANCE IN SHADOWS (Book 9). As the main advocate for relationships between Network operatives, he doesn't have the luxury of ensuring love for himself. But Celine Savage, who believes herself to be incompatible with the warrior mentality all Network operatives must have, changes his mind-big time.
HH: Who were your favorite characters in these stories and why? KW: A lot of the Incognito Series characters have made strong impressions on me that still haunt me long after I've finished writing their stories: Vincent Carson (NO ORDINARY LOVE), Natalie Francis (BOUNTY ON THE REBEL'S HEART), both Roan Emory and Perry L'Engle (DEAD DROP), Shannon McKee, Ron Blair and Mareno Ortega from UNDERCOVER ANGEL, Nova Granger (HARD TO HANDLE), and Rhiannon Murray (HYPNOTIZED).
Of all of them, though, I'd have to say Angelo Pluzetti and Shannon McKee are my favorites in the series. He's really in a position of the rock and hard place since his example is something everyone in the Network will watch and judge. He can't be an intimate friend to the operatives, but he can't disengage himself from their lives and struggles either. And Shannon, with her Borg-like, all-logic, heart-as-an-afterthought personality and rigid self-discipline, is someone I really identify with. Her story, UNDERCOVER ANGEL, is also one of my favorites in the entire series.
HH: Will there be more books to come in this amazing series? KW: I've completed the outline and first draft of MIND GAMES, Book 11 (coming October 2010) with Jocelyn Dominica, Network psychiatrist, at the helm. Readers can look forward to a spooky tale with both of the aforementioned ground rules, but this time with a gothic suspense feel that none of the previous books have had. I should finish revising and polishing this book at the end of May. For now, enjoy the back cover blurb:
After nearly 25 years, psychiatrist Jocelyn Dominica has determined the fate of every operative in the Network. When she's diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, her superiors decide it's time for her to choose a replacement and retire from service. After overhearing them discuss the options for her retirement, the mention of the death of her father more than two decades ago, and a traitor inside the Network or Oversight, Jocelyn realizes she's no longer sure who to trust. Are her superiors trying to save her...or end any possibility of threat she poses? A fall that could have stolen her life as well as her memories puts her in the hands of a man who tells her he's her husband and he loves her...but may be trying to kill her.
A final book will tie up the Incognito Series (maybe, that is-never know when inspirational will hit again): DARK APPROACH (with frequently mentioned operatives Lucy Carlton and Vic Leventhal) will come out March 2011.
HH: What would you most like to accomplish this year? KW: Simply, all I've set out to accomplish-and that would be no small feat! I'm resolved to finish many of the series I've been working steadily on within the next two to three years. As I said, the Incognito Series is winding down at long last. I completed the Falcon's Bend Series (mystery/police procedurals) in 2008 (again, I think).
http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/kswiesner/mystery.html
The Wounded Warriors Series (women's fiction) will be finished soon (finally-Book 6, WHITE RAINBOW, will be out May 14, 2010).
http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/kswiesner/fiction1.html
I've completed the final story in my Kaleidoscope Series (the seven-book contemporary romance novella collection will be released December 2010).
http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/kswiesner/fiction8.html
I'm also working hard on completing my Family Heirlooms Series (inspirational romances). I've submitted GLASS ANGELS, Book 4, and I'm waiting to hear word on whether I've sold it to my publisher. I've completed the outline for Book 5, SHARDS OF ASHLEY, and plan to write the book in September 2010, depending on when I sell GLASS ANGELS. The final in the series, Book 6, WORLDS COLLIDE, will be outlined mid-2010 and written as soon as I sell Book 5.
http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/kswiesner/fiction9.html
My newly sold Denim Blues Mysteries trilogy (romantic inspirational mysteries) will begin with RETIRED AND ON THE ROCKS, Book 1 (June 2010 release). I've completed the first draft of LOVE IS BLIND...AND IT DON'T PAY THE BILLS, Book 2 (June 2011 release) and the final book in the trilogy, SOULS ON (B)ORING STREET will be finished in early 2011 for the October 2011 release date.
http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/kswiesner/fiction1a.html
That just leaves me with finishing four more stories in a kind of mini-series about a family in the town I'm doing for the second collection of my Woodcutter's Grim Series (paranormal romantic horror), including "Moonlight Becomes You", Book 4 (coming in TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume VII (March 2011 release); "Bewitched", Book 5 (coming in BEWITCHED & BEJEWELED, A Jewels of the Quill Halloween Anthology (September 2013 release); "One Night of Eternity", Book 6 and "Beauty is the Beast", Book 7 (both will be bonus stories in the WOODCUTTER'S GRIM SERIES, Volume II collection, Late 2013 release). I'm also planned to write the first full-length novel in the Woodcutter's Grim Series called THE DEEP. I'll be working on that in 2011. I am leaving this series open to future collections and possibly more full-length novels.
http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/kswiesner/fiction6.html
Finally, I'm writing a new series for Jewels of the Quill anthologies. The Cowboy Fever Series (contemporary romances) will have the first four books in the series included in the group anthologies, including "Wings of Love", Book 1 (coming in CHRISTMAS GEMS, A Jewels of the Quill Christmas Anthology, September 2011 release); "Losses and Gains", Book 2 (coming in HEART GEMS, A Jewels of the Quill Valentine's Day Anthology, February 2012 release); "For Always", Book 3, coming in TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume VIII (September 2012 release); and "Taming April", Book 4, coming in TALES IX (March 2013 release). "The Only One", Book 5, will be the bonus story in the Cowboy Fever Series collection, to be released probably in mid-2013. Book 6, the final in the series, will be a full-length novel called DRIFTER'S HEART.
http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/kswiesner/fiction10.html
Much as I love these characters and the variety of genres, I admit that I'm getting all series-ed out and plan to work on several single titles in 2011 and on. To see a list of my progress and upcoming projects, visit

Thanks for having me here, TRS!
