![]() | ![]() Violinist turned author Erica Miner has had a multi-faceted career as an award-winning screenwriter, author and poet. A native of Detroit, she studied music at Boston University and the New England Conservatory of Music and ultimately moved to New York City. After experiencing a variety of highs and lows in her quest to forge a career in the Big Apple, Erica won the coveted position of violinist with the Metropolitan Opera Company.
When as a result of a car accident years later she was no longer able to perform on the violin, Erica drew upon her lifelong love of writing as a creative outlet. She has since won a number of writing awards, including the 2003 Direct from the Author Book Award Fiction Prize for her first novel, Travels with My Lovers. Inspired by her experiences as a musician and single mother and her adventures traveling solo in Europe with and without her children, Erica penned her novel with a dual goal: first, to entertain; and second, to speak to all generations of women, past, present and future, and encourage them express their emotional freedom. She has also developed a number of informational and motivational seminars related to Travels With My Lovers, geared towards single moms, women in search of new careers and travelers of all persuasions.
At present, Erica is working on the screenplay adaptation of Travels With My Lovers, and a novel and screenplay that take place at the Met, as well as a novel series that spans the decades of the 60's and beyond, tailor-made for "baby boomers."
