About Avril Ashton
A Caribbean transplant, Avril now lives in Brooklyn, N.Y with a tolerant Spousal Equivalent. Together they raise an eccentric daughter who loves reading and school (not so much school anymore). Avril’s earliest memories of reading revolve around discussing plot points of The Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys with an equally book-minded mother.
Always in love with the written word, Avril finally decided to do the writing in August of ’09 and never looked back. Spicy love scenes, delicious heroes, and wicked women burn up the pages of Avril’s stories, but there’ll always be a happy ending; Av remains a believer of love in all its forms.

An Interview with Avril Ashton
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Avril, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Sinner, Savior and is part of your Brooklyn Sinners series. What can you tell us about the series and the first book in it?
AA: Thanks for having me. Yes, Sinner, Savior is book two in the Brooklyn Sinners series. Love the Sinner is book one; it’s about NYPD detective Gabe Ashby, and one of the NYPD’s most wanted gang leaders, Angelo Pagan, as the two men’s lives collide. They fall in love despite the obvious roadblocks and readers follow the men as they navigate life and love.
HH: How does Sinner, Savior continue it?
AA: Sinner, Savior is the story of Angelo’s best friend and former partner, Juan Pablo Castillo. Pablo was and is in love with Angelo and had his heart ripped out when Angelo moved on with someone else. He now leads the gang and has decided love isn’t for him, he’s all about business.
HH: What do you like about Pablo and what's his greatest strength?
AA: It was hard to deal with Pablo, to be inside his mind with all the rage and pain from Angelo’s betrayal still fresh in his mind. I liked that he embraced that hurt, didn’t like so much that he let it influence everything he did, but I understood why he did. His greatest strength I think is the way he takes care of the people around him, how he interacts with the men he now leads.
HH: What do you like best about Dev and what makes him different than most heroes?
AA: Despite having a million and one secrets, Dev is a pretty normal and straightforward guy. He sees Pablo and he wants him. He falls in love with him and lets nothing deter him from getting his man.
HH: How did you go about creating the world where their story takes place?
AA: There’s not much world building here as the story is set in Brooklyn where I live. The world of guns and violence is one I’m a part of on a daily basis since I live in one of the most dangerous areas of Brooklyn.
HH: What did you enjoy most about writing this story?
AA: I really enjoyed watching Pablo flounder under his feelings for Dev. He’s so sure he’ll never give his heart to someone ever again then here comes Dev, who snatches it without asking.
HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?
AA: I’m working on book three in the Brooklyn Sinners series, A Sinner Born, which involves Kane and Mr. S from Love the Sinner. I also have a new Christmas story out on Dec 17, an erotic take on Santa and his Reindeer. My story is Dasher, in which I tackle -- you guessed it -- Dasher. More information can be found on my website.
HH: What are you looking forward to most in the rest of 2012?
AA: I hope to finish A Sinner Born before the year is up. We’ll see how that flows. Mostly I’m just looking forward to the New Year and what it brings.
HH: What are you reading at the moment?
AA: Nothing at the moment, trying to get those words down, but I recently read Protection by S.A Reid. A surprising m/m novella that brought me to tears..
HH: Do you have a writing hero and if so, who would it be?
AA: No, no writing hero. Just awesome authors who inspire me to do my best every day.
HH: Thank you!
