Reviews for Shattered Glass

Night Owl Reviews: 4.5 stars: "I'm going to recommend this book because it's extremely well written. I know because of the drugs, rape and other heavy subject manner, that this book isn't going to be for everyone. That's a shame, because it definitely caught my attention and has held onto it. Even now, days later, the characters and their story (especially Liam) weigh heavily on my mind. When you are in the mood for heavy angst, complex characters and to read about a love that is strong enough to preserver through many of life's ups and downs; this book is definitely for you."

All Books Review: "A.C. Katt once again paints a detailed picture, drawing us into the world of the main characters, where we learn to love each one of them, despite their flaws. Each character is complex and compellingly developed so that you feel you really know them and want what is best for them. As the reader, I knew the truth when the characters did not, and I found myself rooting for each one of them, willing them to throw off their cloaks of fear and paranoia and bask in the warmth of true love and friendship. All in all, what appears as simply a love story in the beginning grows into so much more. Shattered Glass is a captivating story of love, lies, treachery, manipulation, murder, and ultimately forgiveness and the power of true friendship."

CoffeeTimeRomance.com: 5 cups: "Shattered Glass is a romance built from the flames of young love that will be tested by outside forces and leave the reader spellbound for the ending as well as the journey."

About AC Katt

AC Katt was born in the Greenwich Village Section of New York City; the only child of older parents. Summers were spent eating ice cream in Washington Square Park; playing in the fountain and listening to the bongo drums and folk guitars until the family bought a house in New Jersey when she was ten.

After the move, AC found boxes and boxes of novels in the garage and that was it, she became a bibliophile, and so she has remained. She now lives in New Mexico with her husband and a superior cat, who rules the roost. She started to write when her husband slashed her book budget, and she had to make up her own stories. She is very interested in Progressive Politics and support initiatives such as the repeal of DADT, gay marriage, Universal Health Care, Banking Reform, Consumer Protection and First Admendment Rights.

An Interview with AC Katt
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio

HH: AC, thank you so much for talking with us. Your featured book is Shattered Glass. First, can you tell us where you got the idea for this emotionally charged story?

AC: The idea for Shattered Glass came from a Bon Jovi song, Make a Memory combined with a portrait of Syd Barrett from Pink Floyd. The portrait of the troubled rock star combined with the lyrics of the Bon Jovi song gave me Shattered Glass.

HH: What do you like about Milo and why will readers relate to him?

AC: Milo is an enigma. He loves Liam with all his heart but is unsure of Liam's love for him. How many of us fight personal demons of doubt of our own self worth? Liam is his own worst enemy. Yet his overwhelming sense of personal responsibility allows him to run the band and shepherd Liam to his majority without betraying the trust that Lily, Liam's mother put in him. He doesn't reveal his feelings for Liam until two weeks before Liam's eighteenth birthday.

HH: What do you like best about Liam and why might he be perfect for him?

AC: Liam is the light to Milo's darkness. The loss of Liam's light is one of the tragedies of the novel.

HH: Gay romance has really risen to popularity in the romance genre. Why do you think that is?

AC: Every male fantasy has two women in it. Why not a female fantasy with two men?

HH: What, in your opinion, is the key to writing gay romance that is wonderful (like yours) and not clichéd?

AC: Realism…gay men have the same problems that everyone else has with the additional stress of societal disapproval. The key to making a gay romance real is to put them into realistic situations and make their reactions male. Use the type of language appropriate language to the situation and to your character. In The Sarran Plague, my first novel which will be re-release by Captiva Press this year, I had aliens who learned English from English Language Programs. They had trouble with idiomatic English.

In Shattered Glass the heroes were rock stars. I made the world they inhabited a real portrayal of the pitfalls of the lifestyle. There were drugs, bad language and a case of real drug addiction. The heroes all had flaws and their actions had real life consequences.

HH: What else do you have in the works for lucky readers?

AC: I have two novels in the works. The first is a complete re-working of my first novel The Sarran Plague to be released later this year. The second working title is Living With Syn, a sequel to The Sarran Plague.

HH: How do you balance a writer career with the rest of your life?

AC: I am disabled. I have Mixed Connective Tissue Disease with Lupus SLE. The disease comes in flares. There are times I can write every day, and there are times I can't write at all. Otherwise, I am active locally in Progressive Politics when I'm well.

HH: If you weren't a writer, you'd be a...?

AC: An actress, at least when I was younger.

HH: What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

AC: I love to read, a busman's holiday.

HH: What is your biggest hope for 2011?

AC: My biggest hope for 2011 is to become more successful at my chosen profession.

HH: Thank you!
