| To Lee's surprise, the chemistry they shared in his imagination is nothing compared to the real thing. Finn is as hot between the sheets as Lee always envisioned. Better still, they get along famously outside the bedroom. The only things standing in the way of Lee having it all are the bundle of joy due any minute and Finn's apparent aversion to children.

An Interview with Amanda Young
By Holly Hewson for The Romance Studio
HH: Amanda, thank you so much for talking with us. Your featured book is Inestimable Blessings. One man is seeking real love and finds it in his hunky neighbor -- all of his fantasies nothing compared to the real thing. But he has a baby on the way (via surrogate) and his dream man doesn't like kids. Where did you get the idea for this emotionally charged tale?
AY: Thanks for having me here! I came up with the idea for Inestimable Blessings because I love reading romance novels involving single fathers. When I ran out of reading material, I decided to write my own story.
HH: What do you like best about Finn and why will he appeal to romance readers? AY: Finn is a bit of a workaholic with a chip on his shoulder. I think readers will like him for the same reason I do -- he's sweet, compassionate, and manages to overcome his fears in order to commit to Lee.
HH: What do you like best about Lee and why do you think readers will relate to him? AY: To me, Lee represents every average man who longs to be a father. He owns his home, works, spends time with his friends, and desires a
family just like so many adults. I think readers will enjoy reading about Lee because he knows what he wants and he goes after it.
HH: The issue of children is a very real issue faced by those who are gay and lesbian. As an author, what was the challenge for you in weaving this important topic into your story? AY: My biggest challenge was getting a feel for the subject matter. I did a ton of research online and read probably a dozen or so books, most of them by gay and lesbian parents. Sadly, only a fraction of the information I obtained was used in the book, but I now know more than I'll ever need to use regarding adoption and surrogacy.
HH: What do you think today's reader is looking for in good romantic fiction and how does this story meet that need? AY: I would say today's readers are looking for the same thing people have desired from the romance genre as long as it's been around -- escapism. They want a bigger than life story and characters with which to fall in love. At least, that's what I've always looked for as a romance
fan.
HH: What else do you have in the works for lucky readers? AY: At the moment I'm working on the second novel in the Chicken Ranch series and a couple of new paranormal tales. I'd share details, but I don't want to jinx anything.
HH: Amanda, why did you want to be a writer? Why do you still? AY: I've doodled with writing for as long as I can remember. I'm not sure I ever sat down and decided to be a writer though. Story ideas were always just there, like an innate curiosity that wouldn't go away. The only choice I made was whether or not to publish them. In the end, I
chose to share my little tales with the public. Having written full time for the last five years or so, I'm not sure I could see myself
doing anything else. I love weaving stories and following the publishing process from beginning to end.
HH: If you weren't a writer, you'd be a...? AY: Honestly, I have no idea. A graphic artist, maybe. I'm fascinated with Photoshop right now.
HH: What's your favorite guilty pleasure? AY: Caffeine. There's nothing better than a big mug of French vanilla coffee.
HH: What is your biggest hope for 2011? AY: My biggest desires for 2011 are pretty simple. I just want to stay happy and healthy and keep doing what I love most—writing.
HH: Thank you!
