Jim and Thomas were happily together until a secret tore them apart. The relationship is severed beyond repair and Thomas leaves their once happy home. Twenty years later, Jim has died leaving the house to Thomas. When Thomas returns to the home there are more than bittersweet memories to haunt him.

This is an enjoyable short read. Within a few pages, the author manages to deliver a well-developed story with a few twists. It's very engaging from the beginning and the characters are quite delightful. The romance unfolds through magic and all the wonder and creepiness of Halloween. Some parts are sad but there's happiness too. It reads like a full-length story due to the nice pacing. Told from Thomas' point of view, I could easily connect with his feelings of loss. The magical part of the story was definitely the key to the plot. It brought everything together to make it a fun read. I loved the ending. I wasn't sure what the author had planned but it worked out well. Worth a try.
