Keith O'Leary and his roommate Patty are both struggling actors. They've become friends with benefits but the sex seems to be too seldom for Keith. When he's offered a part in a late night cable drama playing a gay man Keith hesitates but the money is too good to pass up.. An attraction to Carl Bronson, his partner in the film, is easy to discount early on as the need for a warm body next to him. As their scenes and friendship grow both men realize it's more than that. But how can they act on their feelings without destroying their careers?

G. A. Hauser crafts a gay romance Hollywood style in this latest book. She starts with two men who believe they're heterosexual. Neither has ever had a relationship with another man or wanted one. Both are shocked at the feelings generated during their scenes in the show and find their feelings hard to cope with. Charlotte Deavers, their director, seems to relish the reality they put into their scenes as their attraction becomes something they can't resist.

Reactions of secondary characters seem to help drive their feelings. The more others denounce gays in general or the parts the men play the easier it is for them to withdraw into the safety of one another's arms. Ms. Hauser gives us her usual blend of humor with some serious situations that affect the everyday life of gays in society. As usual she does it with a style that makes the story a great read.
