One wonderful Christmas, Lady Perdita Selby (Poppy) meets the man of her dreams. The moment she saw John, the Duke of Fletcher (Fletch), Poppy knew that she would always love him. Fletch saw the innocent and beautiful noblewoman and immediately fell in love. Marrying in Paris, their Graces, the Duke and Duchess of Fletcher begin what all of England expected would be a wonderful life. Four years later, their expected life had ended. Can their idylliv life ever be restored?

An Affair Before Christmas was a well-written and beautiful book. Poppy was a charming young woman living in the Georgian period of England. As with most new brides in that historical time, all she knew about marriage and sex was what her mother told her. Fletch was handsome, kind and loving young man, who simply couldn't understand what had happened to his marriage. It did seem that someone would have to step in and fix their marriage. There was little sexual content in the book, but the little that was there was marvelous. I found the love between characters wonderful to read. Secondary characters in An Affair Before Christmas were equally well-written and assisted in keeping the plot flowing. I did have an idea how this plot would end and I was not surprised, but Ms. James has a terrific grasp of her craft and wrote a very enjoyable book. Read As Affair Before Christmas. You won't be disappointed!
