Viola Grace has given us a cute story but it often confused me. It feels like there were so many characters that their abilities were mixed up. Esmerelda’s mother was human so I’m not sure how she knew to train Esmy to use her powers well enough for the performance in front of the High Council. The three choices for consorts given to her by her father and grandmother are not the kind of choices most parents would give their daughters! The relationship with Boral and Orlyn is sexy, fun and saves the story.
