| Shea Dresden wants Ryan McCall. He is everything she could possibly want in a man, and she's been trying to interest him since she first set eyes on him. Her last attempt lands her at Red's, a rather dingy, gritty bar. She walks out of the bar after realizing that he isn't going to show, and is followed home by one of the patrons, who then attacks her.
Ryan hears the attack from his apartment and stops it. He's been fighting his desire for Shea since he met her, sure she is too innocent and sweet for him. But that night he doesn't control his desires as well as he wanted, especially when Shea prods him to lose control. Against the Wall was very steamy, and Ryan an ultimate Alpha male, intense sexuality and all. But the romance fell a little short with me. There was too much sex in the story, something I've rarely complained about, and it didn't focus on the characters' emotions and growing relationship nearly enough for me to believe they were in love by the end. The story wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as it likely could've been had less attention been paid to how many sex scenes could be fit into one story. On the plus side, every one of those sex scenes were incredibly hot. I enjoyed the author's writing, her characters, and the way her heroine could sometimes be unexpectedly bold and sexual without jumping into bed with every guy she saw. And even though the romance was intensely sexual between Ryan and Shea, there was a thread of sweetness within it towards the end.
