| Jesse Madding and his vampire lover Gideon Keel are partying at the BDSM club Sangre when Derek O’Dell, their favorite policeman interrupts. Seems Jesse’s counterpart from another dimension, JT, has been arrested and Dominique removed from their home. Michelle, an ageless guardian, is angry that they’ve been keeping Dominique, daughter of her slain lover, away from her. Since she made Jesse a guardian to save his life Michelle wants to train him properly to use his new powers before Foster, a dark guardian can come after them again.
The writing duo known as Jamie Craig has continued this excellent series from where it left off in Book 6. The incomparable lovers, Jesse and Gideon, continue to build their partnership. It seems like this time they have to fight their friends, their enemies, and each other at times. Reading this story is a lot like picking up a book about old friends to find out what mischief they may be getting into this time if you’ve been following the series. Most of the continuing characters make an appearance. Some, like Derek, may be facing some changes in his life too. Michelle is more testy than usual as evidenced by her rather self indulgent punishment of Jesse and Dominique by separating them unless they toe the line her way. Even though their eroticism may be too hard core for some readers the story is well crafted and helps prove that we don‘t have to indulge in the same passions as the players to enjoy the fact that they act out of love. The suspense is built very well along many paths but always brought to a conclusion with some twists and turns that make it even better. The authors have given us another winner that pulled me in from first page to last. I can’t wait to see they will do next!
