While working on a secret exploration mission on the planet Paradise, NASA astronaut Buck Hero becomes separated from his two brothers. Six beautiful Yellow Hairs capture Buck and plan to use him in a ritual that will initiate them into womanhood. To prepare him for the ritual, the young women give him a shot of passion poison, a potion that will give him the drive and stamina to sexually satisfy all of them.

Virgin, a fugitive, sees the Yellow Hairs capture Buck and knows he can be useful to her. On her world, women rule and men are sex slaves, so a talking male such as Buck is a rarity and very valuable. Virgin plans to trade him for something she desperately wants.

The passion poison injection, which could make Buck lose control, puts Virgin's plan in jeopardy, but she decides to go ahead with it anyway. When she gets him far enough away, she can give Buck the antidote, which is twenty-four hours of sex. Judging by the handsome male's looks, Virgin knows she'll enjoy administering it. Will she able to keep her heart and continue with her betrayal?

A HERO BETRAYED, the third book in the Heroes at Heart series, is simply outstanding. It contains the same sassy humor and passionate sex as the previous books, but due to Virgin's betrayal, it has even more tension and suspense. Virgin isn't as bad as she sounds. She has a good reason for her betrayal, and luckily, Buck is a compassionate and understanding hero. In this book's brilliant ending, Ms. Springer pays homage to a classic sci-fi movie and opens a new door for the series. Hopefully, she plans on giving us another story set in this imaginative world very soon.
