A Kind of Magic by Susan Sizemore is a romantic time-travel adventure. Maddie is a tom-boy, she always has been. She likes men to treat her as an equal but this has hindered her in finding a romantic relationship. Her desire to be treated as equal causes problems when she travels to a place in time where men make all the decisions and women are expected to meekly obey. Rowan is a strong alpha male. He is used to leading his people and expects everyone to obey him. He knows what it does to a man to fall blindly in love and vows that it will never happen to him. He guards his heart from feeling and reminds himself it is for the best. There is strong sexual attraction between the two characters but Maddie wants love as well. Maddie struggles with her emotions. She feels that Rowan will never respect her mind or want the love she offers. The two will face many adversities together. They must face mythological creatures, feuding clans, and power hungry men as well as other dangers that are ever present. Will the two acknowledge the love they feel for each other as well as the magic that has brought them together or will Maddie return to her time to find love with the man that is waiting? A Kind of Magic is a passionately romantic time-travel adventure that teaches the importance of love.
