| Kayleigh McConnell has had a tough year. All she ever wanted was to find a man to love and grow her prize roses and a family at her little farm. Her parents were killed in a car accident and since then her brother has been sullen and angry. She’s having trouble keeping the family farm running and is at her wits end with her brother. In the midst of all this strife she has to make a life changing decision.
Diarmuid McNamarra is the Rose Prince of AAran come to the mortal world to fulfill a bargain with the Sea Witch that will save his Fae kingdom. But the consequences will be great if he does not find the woman fated to love him and return with her to his magical realm. He never expects to experience what mortals call love. But he does fall in love with Kayleigh, his fated mate. He will do anything to protect her, even at the cost of his own happiness. A Kiss from the Rose is a sweet and sensual story of how the course of true love never runs smoothly. It reminded me of a grown up’s version of old fairy tales. Diarmuid is dreamy, the quintessential handsome prince. The descriptions of the flowers and the atmosphere of romance between Diarmuid and Kayleigh are sensual and involving. There are touches of humor and the plot flows smoothly for the most part. A few of the transitions seemed abrupt but that was explained by the fact time passes differently in the Fae world. The secondary characters are believable and add interest to the story. Especially touching is the friendship between Diarmuid and Cathal which shows another side of love and loyalty. This is not an overly erotic story, the two star cr! ossed lovers only have one truly sexual encounter. But it is well written and very much a magical romantic faery tale that Fantasy lovers will enjoy.
