| This is the story of Chastity ("Chas") Hopewell and Josh Haley, two country singers at the height of their careers. They had performed together in the past and had a personal relationship but had parted company. Their two managers, Vic and Jeff, decided it would boost their careers and their record sales if they combined forces again and performed together for a duet album and tour. These arrangements were made without consulting either Chas or Josh. Chas and Josh fought like crazy. They felt the same way about their music and what they wanted to do with their careers. They also still had a lot of love. With the pressures of the music industry, the frustrations they constantly caused each other, the tempers of both of them, would it be possible to explore their musical as well as personal chemistry and have things work out better this time?
I really enjoyed the characters of Chas and Josh. The book accurately reflects the cutthroat nature of the entertainment business. When Chas and Josh were together when they were young, they were both unprepared for a commitment. When they reconnect later, they both have aged well with the influence of time, life experience, love, loss, success, and disappointment. It enhanced their earlier attraction to each other and made the attraction more meaningful. The supporting characters of Jeff and Vic, Chas and Josh's managers, and Jeff also being Chas' ex-husband and Josh's best friend since childhood, they were just characters you love to hate. Unfortunately, there are real people out there just like them, barracudas. The relationship between Chas and Josh is exciting, exhilarating, passionate, intense, wearing, tiring and intensely connected on the music and personal levels. It's a very enjoyable love story. I recommend it to everyone.
