Detective Justin Hatcher, from Raleigh, North Carolina, was going home for the first time in five years. His long-time girlfriend had married his brotherhis best friendand Justin left in anger with much drama. Now, according to a note he found, there was a chance that he had a son whom those two most hated people were raising.

Cameron McAlister was a twenty five year-old divorcee whose ex-husband, Roger Blackmore, was being released from prison. He promised he would come after her and they could start over. She had to disappear before he came back and embarrassed her once again. She still didn’t understand how she had made such a stupid mistake in judgment.

Ms. Carla Rossi created a wonderfully poignant, frequently upbeat storyline concerning the travel across country that these two peoplestrangersthrown together hastily. These two opposite personalities were plagued with past mistakes and bitterness and pain. These two were scarred and determined to keep to themselves. The strength of the individuality was instantly attention grabbing. I literally read throughout the night.

There was a myriad of situations which exploded between the two. Throughout the entire trip, Cameron continued to pray that God would guide her to help Justin. Each half of this couple was both vulnerable and strong. The help from family and friends introduced us to supporting cast members who just reinforced this delightful story about finding God’s best for each individually.

This book is a fresh look at a love story in the making. It is uplifting and a book that anyone would enjoy, regardless of genre preference. Almost Home is also a book that you can offer to your young ladies without fear of content. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Great job, Ms. Rossi. This book is going on my “keeper” list.
