Alexandria Montgomery, antique store owner joins with adventurer Quinn Rafferty as he searches for a treasure in Guatemala. Alex is also on the hunt for her ex-boyfriend and employee, who stole a valuable Mayan map in order to find the same treasure Alex and Quinn are looking for. Alex had made a copy of the map, which she and Quinn put to use, but she hasn't informed him of her secret, certain she will lose his love and gain his anger. Their trek through the jungles of Guatemala is fraught with danger, but also brings Alex and Quinn close. Both try as hard as they can to stay away from each other, but find it impossible to avoid intimacy. Their attraction is just too electric. When they finally realize they love each other, her ex-boyfriend finds her and Alex does something that causes him to send her home. Will he find the treasure? Is there even a treasure? And what about their love?

This well-written book held my interest to the very last page. Alex and Quinn are wonderful characters, their repartee at times funny, and other times frustrating. The author shows their inner feelings so well, depicting their struggles to keep away from each other so well. The scenes are described beautifully and we not only can see the lush foliage, the dangerous foot bridges and the colorful towns, but we feel the tropical heat and suffer right along with Alex and Quinn as they trek on foot through dangerous territory. They both fight against making love, resulting in unplanned love scenes that are all the more poignant. The writer has done a good job in designing the ex-boyfriend and his sister. He shows so well his evil qualities, which he retains right up to the end, while his sister gives hint of a different side as she does most of the work in the camp, that same side coming to fruition at the end. Alex's sister keeps Quinn and us guessing right to the fantastic end.

I loved this book and will anxiously await the next one by this author.
