| Laurel Sherman was a forty-one year old professional woman. Her life was devastated when her long-time partner, Philip, walked off and left her for a younger woman. She seemed to just barely survive her days and weeks. Her routine included a weekly trip with her job. She was picked up on Monday mornings by a driver, taken to the airport, and then on Friday afternoons, she was returned to her home by another driver.
Rafi, Laurel’s Monday morning driver, was around 25-30 years old. He routinely picked her up early in the mornings and delivered her to the airport. Through the weeks, the two became “talking” friends. Rafi realized that she was unusually quiet and that emotionally she was upset. When she complained about her looks and circumstances, Rafi stopped the car and tried to cheer her up. She was a professional—he just a driver. When his citizenship was settled, would he ever have a chance with a woman such as her? Mr. Ruby Bartek is a new author to me. She has written a poignant book about reverse age discrepancies as society views things. She has taken a look at the severity of feelings when a lonely professional became friends with a man who supposedly was beneath her. She showed through her main characters that feelings can cross social mores and people can thrive on the unexpected. I enjoyed the storyline. This book was very sensual. The sexual scenes were intense and very descriptive. I recommend it.
