I missed some character description at the beginning, it was hard to understand what was what and where. There was so many things going on that I got lost, and when that happens during a sci-fi book people usually stop reading. The overly descriptive action scenes were everywhere and the storyline got lost. It feels like the author had a lot of good ideas, but then had a little trouble fitting it all into a short novella. I liked all the creatures and the fantastic world it's set in. The idea and the concept were great, but the writing and planning needed more work.
